Small (& portable token) Christmas presents for strangers abroad

I am going away - overseas -for Christmas on a (very) small group tour, largely staying in one place and with various optional activities (eg cookery classes, horse riding etc).

I thought it might be nice to bring a small token Christmas present. Like a tiny box of posh chocolates or a couple of festive mince pies with a festive ribbon round them. (We will be having Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations).

Thing is, I won't be going on the tour direct but instead will be travelling around a bit and a, not sire chocolates will survive warm weather and mince pies not crumble.

Any ideas?

Dont bring food. How about miniature flavoured vodka or similar?

Fortnums teabags? They are not expensive and the boxes are so pretty!

Pukka Herbal Teabags, or Waitrose Jasmine etc.

Fancy soaps

Packs of cards. Small Christmas themed games.

Is Christmas celebrated in the county you're visiting? If so, I'd consider some tree ornaments. Maybe from somewhere a little upscale/special like Harrods or Fortnums.

You could also look and see what little festive gifts iconic London places like the Natural History Museum have. Or the Royal Collection. Or a museum/place in your own city, if it's famous for something.

Sorry - it's not gifts for people local to the country I'm visiting but for the fellow Brits (ie fellow travellers / strangers in the tour group). Just thought it would be nice and hopefully not weird to give them each a token at Christmas celebrations.

The country we're visiting isn't Christian as such but Christmas Day is a public holiday and celebrated as a hangover from the days of British colonialism

Christmas is not celebt

I misunderstood - thought it was for hosts or tour guides.

I do think it would be a bit odd to give individual gifts to strangers in the group - expensive too.

Aridane · 01/12/2019 21:18

I was thinking of token - like I said in my OP (eg posh mince pie type thing).

Maybe I will get some cute mini boxes of toffee and play it by ear - ie eat the lot myself if it would appear odd / too try hard to give them as toke. Christmas gifts

Wasn't thinking of anything expensive - you know, like how office Secret Santa's are more about the challenge of buying something For a fiver!

There are very few people on the trip. To be honest, I am surprised they are running it, don't see how it can be economical for them to do so

Little boxes of sweets sound perfect.

Aridane · 01/12/2019 21:35

Thank you.

I had been thinking of something like this (grand total of£2.80 per person Grin) but not that transportable or durable

But think will look for cute little boxes of toffees / non perishables
