I have a history of preeclampsia will me taking aspirin help prevent it in this pregnancy? Are their any women who have the same history who have taken asprin and it prevented preeclampsia from occurring or did you get diagnosed with it again? How much did you take; was it 81mg and what week gestation did you start and stop taking it?

Ask a healthcare professional!

I was told by my consultant in my last pregnancy to take it. But I wouldn’t start unless you are told to bu a doctor. It wasn’t a full dose and as far as remember you can’t start until after 16/20 weeks but I may be wrong

My sister has just been prescribed children’s aspirin. She’s 20 weeks, first pregnancy, no signs or risk factors for pre eclampsia. It was prescribed as a preventative measure

You really need to seek medical advice from a trained medical professional instead of getting it from randoms on the internet. Very dangerous and not advisable to take medication unsupervised.

Depends on the severity of the preeclampsia. I have a genetic disorder that causes the early and postpartum / severest forms, but also have low blood pressure and another disorder that can cause pph and so was given heparin from the start and then a low dose aspirin.

My sil has an actual history of severe preeclampsia and HELLP, and was given a fairly high dose of aspirin from the start and then warfarin as soon as she came in for inductions (33 weeks for both babies).

You will be advised by your midwife, please
Don’t take advice from strangers in the internet. I believe it is current advice to take a small dose after a certain point in pregnancy (I was prescribed it in my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies after PE and HELLP syndrome in my 1st) but wait until you’ve discussed it with your midwife!

I was prescribed it by my consultant after suffering it in my first labour -I took it all through my second pregnancy and didn’t get it again but I did have a c-section so. As above though don’t just start taking it! As your midwife or consultant.
