Is this safe???

Baby and I are ill, blocked noses, horrible honking coughs, achy, headaches (well I'm achy and have a headache she can't tell me). She settled really well tonight but at about 10 woke up and wouldn't go back down. For the last hour me and my partner have been rocking her but every time we try to move her into the cot she wakes up. I decided to try bouncing her to sleep in her bouncy chair and as if by miracle it worked! I think she can actually breathe whilst slightly upright. But is this actually safe to leave her overnight like it?

So long as she's secure yes. Or raise one end of her matress.

Feel better soon

Not sure if that would be safe all night. But I remember putting a rolled up towel underneath the cot mattress so it’s a bit tilted to make breathing easier at night when they have a cold x

It’s so tempting too I know, been there many a time (and am actually now laying on my four year olds floor whilst she tries to sleep with a horrible cough so I get you!) But I don’t think I would leave her there for the night, I don’t thinking’s safe enough. Can you leave her til she is in a deep sleep, transfer her and hope for the best? Hope you both feel better soon and eventually get some sleep.

I wouldn't. Not for the whole night. A few years ago someone did this and the bouncer flipped and suffocated the baby. I'd raise the cot

Thank you all. Will probably stay up for half an hour and try the rolled up towel trick, I did some googling and it was all a bit confusing, some sites saying never and some saying as long as they're properly strapped in (which I made sure she was). I think I preferred it when we both had a vomiting bug as at least she slept. So hard having a partner who works 7:30am-8:30/9pm every day as I don't get any help and feel guilty if he has to get up in the night at all 😒 I have warned him he'll probably have to do some wakings tonight.

She's now in the middle of the bed and I'm trying to make up a bed on the floor for myself. Already kicked DP onto the sofa as it's too late to faff about setting up the spare mattress. Hoping she sleeps well tomorrow so I can get some sleep then ☹️

How did the rest of your night work out OP? Hope everyone is on the mend.

thatguiltyfeeling · 29/11/2019 20:26

I got about an hours sleep, but did manage to have a nap during the day too. I feel better bar the tiredness, still a cough but headache is easing and don't feel quite so achy. Poor little baby is still coughing loads, and not willing to sleep much but bar an hours screaming has been quite easy today. Thank you x
