Any tips on how to unblock sinuses? I'm in the midst of a very nasty virus and my nasal passages are completely blocked and I'm facing another sleepless night. I've tried menthol crystals and a saline spray but to no avail. I'm totally exhausted but can't seem to fall asleep with my mouthopen

Oh dear Sad

I'm pretty shit tbh. But will bump while suggesting....

Vicks rubbed on soles of your feet.

Sitting up and dozing.

Bath?

Gin.

Hope you get some sleep soon

Sumatriptan, which is a migraine tablet, and can be bought (as Migalieve, I think) is great for unblocking sinuses.

@BastardGoDarkly

Bath helped earlier but didn't last long. Gin is my next port of call Grin

@TheReluctantCountess I've never heard of it before but I'll pick some up tomorrow and give it a try

Thank you both

Hope you got some sleep op. There are some massages that are meant to help sinuses drain, might be worth a try. Lots of advice if you google for methods.

A few drops of Olbus Oil in a bowl of boiling water, tea towel over your head and breath in the steam. You'll be amazed at what comes out of your nose!

Damntheman · 28/11/2019 10:21

Otravine and raising your head as high as you can get while still being able to sleep. It's the only way. Good luck!

As a long term measure going 100 per cent gluten and dairy free will help.
My husband has stopped wearing his hearing aids since giving up gluten and dairy

When it's really bad, I use a nasal spray from the pharmacy. They're usually good.

Keep warm and hydrated.

Sumatriptan is sold as Imigran. Migraleve is something different - it's basically paracetemol and codeine with an anti-nausea ingredient, so it will ease the pain but not do any unblocking. Imigran might be worth a try, but I doubt the pharmacist will let you have it for anything other than migraine.
