After school Ideas

Ohfrigginghellers · 27/11/2019 16:30

Looking for ideas to keep my two kids entertained. It's not always easy as they are both very different.
They both do one after school activity once a week and swimming on a weekend.

Entertained at home or sports club/activity?

greenlynx · 27/11/2019 19:19

Do you mean a club?

thistimelastweek · 27/11/2019 19:20

Kinda hard for ideas for kids that you know but we don't

Well if it’s any help I have 6 and 4 year old girls. They do gymnastics on a Monday, 6 year old has rainbows on a Wednesday. Other than that after school we do things like colouring, play doh, 6 year old takes herself off to read/write stories, occasionally some baking, I often just send them off to play with their toys (I also have a 10 month old baby so can’t amuse them all the time) and they have a bit of TV before dinner. If it’s dry we stop at the park on the way home so that kills half an hour.

Wotrewelookinat · 27/11/2019 19:38

Do you have a local climbing centre? My daughters looove it.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 27/11/2019 19:40

Is one activity a week enough? It would be for my dd. Otherwise look at other clubs, drama, xance, football whatever.
Or just take them to the park.
Not sure what else to suggest reallyConfused

Ohfrigginghellers · 27/11/2019 19:41

Youngest does do gymnastics. Climbing sounds good will consider that. Eldest does a group once a week. I just get tired of dealing with their squabbles.

Please let them relax and watch TV or whatever they chose to do they want at home...regardless of gender.

Hepsibar · 27/11/2019 19:56

Tennis is good because they could do it at the same time and often indoor facilities
Brownies
Cubs
Rainbows etc
Any after school clubs or coaching things?
Musical instruments?

Ohfrigginghellers · 27/11/2019 20:23

Roisin don't worry they do plenty of that. It's mainly my youngest who is always wanting to do something

All the information needed is 4 and 7

Rainbows/Beavers
Soft play
Trampoline park
Playdates

At that sort of age I found mine would play better if I had something out when they came home so I'd set up a train track or have the play doh on the table or a half done puzzle. They weren't very good at being sent to 'play with their toys'

Park on sunny days and a lot of vegging out in front of the tv once homework was done.

thistimelastweek · 27/11/2019 20:40

God forbid they just go home and chill.
Like even watch telly?
Cos adults don't look to relax at the end of our day?

Crunchymum · 27/11/2019 20:41

Mine are the same age (and sexes but that isnt massively relevant)

They do a club each a week and maybe go to granny's one afternoon a week but that is plenty at that age (and this time of year)

Mine need the rest and the downtime.
