Saving this year

Is anyone else trying to save this year and can share any tips on living as frugally as possible and even making any extra money? I need to earn as much as possible in the next 6 months. So far i have a lot of out goings and a zero hour job im lucky if i get 3 days a week sometimes. This week its as low as 2. Im looking for a new better paid job but i have no real experience other than 4 years in retail and some care work even though i got a degree in history 7 years ago.

Anyone else in similar position and trying to scrimp and save and have any tips/advice?

I have already joined a facebook group for making cheap meal ideas.

Sometimes it’s worth doing a bit of voluntary work. See if you can volunteer anywhere doing a bit of admin work. Even one day a week so you can put that down on your cv.
A friend of mine has a fantastic career in accounting as she volunteered one day a week in the head office of the retail shop she worked in.

Thank you but it hasnt seemed to help me so far. Ive volunteered in 2 big places one for 6 months and every job ive applied to says less than 1 year isnt enough.

Sorry to hear that op. It’s so difficult and especially at this time of year.
Just make sure you include all the buzzwords and don’t be shy about making yourself appear absolutely fab on your cv. (Sorry if you’ve already done that)
Good luck Smile

Ok optimism is gone. Since being off 2 weeks with miscarriage and then being on rediced hours on a zero hour contract i now have £300 to last the month and that needs to buy food, christmas presents and train fare as well as new glasses and lenses a £25 optician visit next week and some removal van stuff. It feels very unfair this month. I really need a month long plan of scrapping stuff together. To make matters worse i asked for next months rota and have been told its not approved yet so i dont know how many days i get next month.

I know im talking to myself in here now but at least its somewhere to get my thoughts together. I need to save about 4k in 4 months. If anyone stumbles on this do you have any tips on additional jobs i can do alongside my own that doesnt involve weekends or late nights due to my other job already dominating that.?

Also anyone know of the best offers/websites to buy stuff like laundrey detergent etc?
