So I had an interview a few weeks ago, they said to me that they will get back to me by 21st as they have a few interviews. Obviously it's the 25th now, I am desperate to know.. they are a little company and I don't think they are very organised with things like this lol. But do you think it's rude or might spoil my chances if I email asking if there's any update? Any advice on what to do?

I’d do it. Why not? If you are extra polite and gracious you might shame them into having better manners next time they interview!

Candlesandrust · 25/11/2019 15:29

Yes I would email them. Thank them for their time and politely ask them for feedback/result of interview. It's not good manners to leave you for so long.

SamBeckett · 25/11/2019 17:48

Yes email them , I have been conducting interviews for the past few weeks and it's hard to keep track of every single applicant .
If you were invited to attend the interview via email then respond on the same thread so they can see exactly who you are so there are no mistakes

Is that supposed to comfort the OP?

SamBeckett · 25/11/2019 20:22

@Iamthewombat

It is a realty , if like me the person that interviewed her has interviewed 100s of others it is hard to keep track of all of them.
So getting back in touch after the cut of date is a good idea , the interviewer may of created a short list and is going back through them ( which is what I have been doing today ) so If someone was to contact me I would be able to tell them if they had made it to the short list and if so when I will be getting back in touch with them .

Iamthewombat · 25/11/2019 21:50

I’d hope that if somebody took the trouble to come in for interview, including preparation, an interviewer would have the basic courtesy to let the interviewee know whether he or she had been successful, irrespective of how many people had been interviewed, without the interviewee having to remind the rude people who interviewed her who she is.

Incidentally, I hope that you are not recruiting for roles where it’s important to express yourself lucidly (“cut of”, “may of”).

Pomley · 25/11/2019 21:54

Lost track of interviewees? Are you not maintaining proper documentation? That's terrible.

OP it's not unreasonable at all seen as though it has been a few weeks.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 25/11/2019 22:16

Exactly what Iamthewombat said. It’s really bad manners to leave people without notifying them of the outcome and it’s poor organisation to lose track of interviewees.

I wouldn’t want to work for a company that was so poorly structured.

It could be they're negotiating contracts or waiting for acceptance by their first choice candidate before letting the unsuccessful candidates know.

DH followed up an interview from last week that he was told would let him know at the end of last week and hadn't. He was sure he hadn't got it, he called and was super polite and said he was hoping for some feedback and they apologised profusely - one of the interviewees ha a problem getting to their interview on Friday and they'd rearranged it for today but they'd narrowed it down to three applicants (and possibly the one from today) and invited him for a second interview. You never know Grin🤞🏻
