Hi,

Wondering if anyone had any recommendations? DS is not a strong reader but is really trying. I think the biggest problem is he sees reading as 'work' but enjoys being read to- I need to get him to realise that reading can be fun, so looking for books aimed at 5-6 years olds reading level but that is fun and accessible.

Any ideas would be gratefully received! Thanks!

Hi,
After seeing my husband chatting a lot on his phone with a group of his work colegues, I did realise that something was going on, called her and told her to stop, I checked the conversations while he was sleeping and found a long chat(2.5 hours long) after midnight with a woman from work, this on the work chat group, she was "joking abt me, teling him that I was probably at a dogging local site and loads of other jokes abt my relationship with him. I took a screenshot of some chats and reposted on the group chat.
.
My husband told me that I am unreasonably and crazy @JackNamesThePlanetsand that is nothing going on, but I know they all go out for lunch every week and he was obsessed with this group chat.

My 5.5yo is enjoying reading the Dr Seuss books (like Green Eggs and Ham), Oi Frog books, the Meg and Mog series (reads these to her 3yo sister). The Giant Jam Sandwich is a current favourite.
She will read most of the 3yo's books, so maybe go though books you thought he'd outgrown as books to be read to him? (If you still have some). All are infinitely more enjoyable than the reading scheme books. Bear Hunt, Hungry Caterpillar etc.
She is beginning to feel confident enough to attempt a few of her books too, especially if we take turns to read a page each. And she'll happily attempt a few chunks in her Usborne See Inside... books.

If it helps, DD1 has only fairly recently started reading books herself 'for fun'. It was a huge battle before that as she too saw it as 'work', plus a mental block that she couldn't do it. She seemed to have a penny drop one day when she realised she really could do it (mostly!). What book band is he on? DD1 gained confidence around the time she went on to level 6.
