I posted another message here re rosacea/ wanting to try Efracea.
A dermatologist my GP wrote to (so I've had no consultation, though I had many in the distant past) my GP and said no to Efracea unless I first try regular Doxycycline or Lymecycline and react badly.
I want to try Efracea because of its anti-inflammatory (but none anti-bacterial) effects. I have other conditions I do not want to worsen by taking unnecessary antibiotics. Efracea, I thought, helps the rosacea without the risks that come with antibiotics. With antibiotic resistance on the increase, why would the dermatologist say no? Is it likely to be cost-related?
I have ocular rosacea and the leaflet (online) says to talk to your doctor first if you have ocular rosacea (I do) and it's partly why I want to try Efracea. I can't see any explanation as to why it might not be recommended for ocular rosacea. I also see medical studies/ reports. reviews on drugs.com online where Efracea has been effective in the treatment of ocular rosacea
Regular doxycycline is given for ocular rosacea but I don't see any warnings/ precautions re ocular rosacea for that?
Thanks for any help/ info/ advice offered.
