Best tips for frying eggs

I've now spent the best part of my 47 years trying to cook a perfect fried egg. I want to admit defeat but DS has now decided it's his favourite type of chicken bum fruit.

For some reason I can only manage to get a black bottom welded to the pan, a snotty top, a burst yolk or a delightful combination of all three.

Can any expert fryers please throw there top tips this way to stop me constantly disappointing my child?

I agree with Cosmos45. Put the egg in whilst the oil isstill cool, leave it till the white has set, then start scooping oilover the yolk. Perfect every time.

Non stick pan with a clear lid to cover, not necessarily a perfect fit, low heat, tbsp of oil, heat oil, crack eggs in, place a clear/glass lid on top. Remove from heat for 30seconds when the egg tops look 'milky' before removing lid (because water and oil mix spits a bit) The steam cooks the top so no 'snot' the yolk is soft, and the bottom is still 'fried'.
The Perfect 'fried' egg, honest.

I'm good at fried eggs so I've been told!! Heat non stick pan to medium heat with about 1cm of oil in, break egg in gently. Leave to sit until bottom of egg turned white - should not be spitting at any point, tilt pan so the oil pools on one side and use a big spoon to splash the oil over the top of the egg until it is just cooked on top. Voila, a gorgeous soft fried egg!

I get Perfect every time. not too high a temperaure, very little oil, just enough to lightly coat the bottom of a non stick pan, then break the egg into the pan. As soon as the white starts to set, put a well fitting lid on top of the pan. This will cook the yolk t perfection and the white also.
