We did a pastel de nata (custard tart making) workshop and a tile painting workshop that we booked through Airbnb experiences - those were fun. There's the port tasting to do near the river and the cable car. We went on the old-fashioned tram to the beach as well.

avoid the people selling port tours and boat trips. You can walk into all of the port houses and if you want. Your negotiate with them directly.

I’ve not been to Porto but very highly rate Airbnb experiences. Brilliant ones have been a wine and tapas tour in Seville and sunrise paddle boarding in Barcelona. Extremely reasonable as well.

The Yeatman hotel is gorgeous but admittedly pricey. If you're visiting the port lodges on the Gaia side of the river it's worth paying a visit to their bar. The port based cocktails are great and it has a terrace with spectacular views of the river and town.

Already sorted accommodation thank you. Keep them coming

The Yeatman amazing, breakfast and afternoon teas gorgeous, have a mooch around looking at the street art on the sides of the building, includes the hare made out of rubbish mounted on a wall, refuse collectors mural, lots of tiles in the train station entrance and blue cat mural in between streets. sadly it rained a lot when we were there :( also nice to eat in the inside market area, lots of rows of tables, just choose what you want from the stands and sit where you like?

We have just come back from Porto and would recommend the Taylors port cellars .It is self guided with tasting at the end-not cheap but beautifully done and very informative
Takes a couple of hours
There were also free walking tours in the main square near the station-we lurked around one and it sounded very good
Also worth doing the bookshop despite it being tiny -can’t remember exactly its name but google it and see
Have a good time

We hired a bike and cycled down the coast. There is a Chapel on the beach, I think it's called Miarmar.
