Christmas gifts for nursery. Baking? Good or bad idea?

Sorry for the repeated post. I know there have been a few of these recently.

I was going to bake lots of cookies and cakes for everyone in DD's nursery but reading some old forum posts I'm panicking now because people who work in nurseries have said they would just go straight in the bin! Is baking really a terrible idea? Would you hate to receive baked goods? I thought putting in the time and effort would mean more than just going to the shop and buying them. I was going to get her key worker a special gift though (I have no idea what yet!).

Other than baking I'm stuck for ideas what I do or get for everyone else. It's a big nursery (about 90 children in total maybe more) so there are lots of staff members including bank staff and the same people don't stay in DDs room all of the time. I thought baking would be a good way to show everyone that works there that we appreciate them. I've sent some of my baking in before but they wouldn't have told me if they didn't like it or had just binned it. What do you do for your DC nursery? Any ideas or inspiration greatly appreciated!

Some nice hand lotion for the staff toilets! They’re always washing their hands after changing nappies and before feeding! I got a set of both hand wash and lotion from the White Company year.

Not everybody will eat home made gifts from someone they don’t know very well so they may go to waste. I know lots of people think that’s nuts but it is what it is. You could spend a lot on ingredients plus your time only for them to end up in the bin.

Given it’s a token of appreciation for a large number of staff members I’d go with buying a box or two of M&S biscuits and chocolates. Their extremely chocolatey biscuits were half price last week and they have other treat things on offer at this time of year.

Yes sorry OP nurse here, homemade food from patients always gets binned.

Sorry but you have no idea what standards of hygiene people have.

Hand cream sounds lovely Grin

Great idea! Thank you so much for the feedback. I'll scrap the baking idea.

School staff here, we're a bit the same with 'home baking' ; naice biscuits from M&S or similar or hand wash/cream is a good suggestion

You can get nice boxes of biscuits from the supermarket....

Home baking would go in the bin

Look up "borders"

They do lovely "posh" cookies in a nice box, for £2.50 in tesco...

Or you can go for those boxes of 20, cookies, muffins, gingerbread etc for £1.60 in tesco....

Sure Sainsbury's do similar
