Any Instant pot pressure cooker experts?

DH has managed to pour stock over the meat and veg in the IP without putting the stainless steel inner pot in first. It’s drained out, all over the floor. He didn’t manage to spot the inner pot sitting idly by...Angry

He thinks it will dry out and be fine. I think it’s fucked!
Plus it has bits of raw meat in it that will need to be cleaned out somehow.

To add insult to injury. DH has cooked for me about 3 times in 20 years. And it wasn’t pleasant. However, he cooks veg and meat for the bloody dog once a week in my pressure cooker. I made him write down the steps as I was fecked if I was going to do that too, as well as cook all the family meals.

He definitely didn’t cock up on purpose. He is generally useless with gadgets of any sort and relies on me to do all that stuff. He did wash down the worktops and floor and is now supervising bedtime.

Can my lovely IP be saved? I’m not sure I can afford to buy another one this close to Christmas. Sad

Clean it out, and leave it upside down to dry for 48 hours. Are you on one of the Instant Pot websites? They're very helpful.

The face book page is great for this. if I remember correctly you can unscrew the black plastic base to let it dry out more thoroughly.

He's not the first, and won't be the last!

The other frequent flying mistake is to stand it on the hob, and accidentally turn the hob on.

Every single week, one or both of these things happens on the FB group.

My dd sautéed garlic and onions in my pressure cooker when "helping" and following my instructions too literally. It survived cleaning with wet microfibre cloth and was a bit smelly the first couple of uses.

Ok, I’ve unscrewed the base, cleaned what I could and will leave it a few days and then try it out.

Thanks everyone for posting and for giving me some hope. Smile

I've just bought one - flash deal on Amazon for £59. If anyone wants one, better get on it before it’s finished.
