If you were to buy a home today, and there was only one small bathroom, would you prefer the bathroom to have a bathtub or a shower cubicle?

Bathtub. I never take baths but handy to have for hand washing large items.

Squiff70 · 20/11/2019 18:36

Depends how you prefer to wash/bathe. I had a new bathroom three years ago and went for a bathtub but I have medical conditions which mean I can't get in or out of the bath. I bitterly regret it now and wish I'd gone for a shower cubicle.

BitchyArriver · 20/11/2019 18:38

I’m a bit bitter now as my washing machine just broke and I had to hand wash about a million of my DH’s work shirts!!!

Shower! I use it at least once a day, can't remember when i last had a bath (ewww, sitting in your dirty water trying in vain to ge the right temperature)

You can hand wash things in a sink.

Cornishmumofone · 20/11/2019 18:41

I only ever shower and bought a house where the bathroom only had a shower... then I got pregnant and had to bath my daughter in a plastic bath (followed by a storage container) until she was 2 as we couldn't afford to get a new bathroom before then. If it's the only bathroom and you might sell it in the next decade, beware that you'll put off a lot of people.

Blackbear19 · 20/11/2019 18:44

If I was fitting a bathroom I'd go for a P bath. Wider at the bottom so it can double as a shower enclosure.

I don't bath that often but when you have a sore back or muscle aches or little kids a bath is a must.

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 20/11/2019 18:46

Bathtub 100%. I don't bath often but like to have the option as do the DCs and its useful for other things too. I don't like showering in a cubicle, it feels too closed in and you get a horrible cold draught when you open the door.

KittenLedWeaning · 20/11/2019 18:48

Bath. I couldn't live without a bath and it would have to be some kind of dream house in other respects before I'd buy it knowing I'd have the hassle of installing a bath to come.

Horsemad · 20/11/2019 18:50

We're just waiting to get our bathroom done & are having the bath removed & a shower enclosure.

Hope it's the right decision!!

ClaraThePigeon · 20/11/2019 18:51

Shower. I hate baths.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/11/2019 18:54

Bath.

I only shower occasionally. Bath all the the time.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/11/2019 18:55

No one with young children/couples who think they might have a family would buy a house with a shower only.

halcyondays · 20/11/2019 18:56

Bathtub , with shower over the bath.

darkcloudsandrainstorms · 20/11/2019 18:56

A bath, a book, some music and bubble bath. Can’t read a book in a shower.

WelshMammaofaSlovak · 20/11/2019 19:02

We have a small bathroom and when we renovated we chose a lovely shower cubicle and great shower with a deep base, that our dd can use as a bath while she's still little, instead of a bath and we put the washer-dryer in the remaining space. I have never regretted it.

onemorecakeplease · 20/11/2019 19:06

Bath with shower over.

I spend hours in my bath and then have a shower to get clean 😂

GiannaW · 20/11/2019 19:52

I think a bathtub.

Bluntness100 · 20/11/2019 20:00

Shower.

Jubilation · 20/11/2019 20:01

Bath with a shower. If you try to sell, people with small children will want a bath. My sister bought a house that had no bath and to reinstate it was number one on the list when they moved in.

Difficultcustomer · 20/11/2019 20:04

Personally a shower due to disability but that might lower value on sale as young families will use a bath and happy with a shower over the bath.

TrickyKid · 20/11/2019 20:07

Bath with shower

QuintessentialShadow · 20/11/2019 20:20

So pretty even....

Just to throw a spanner in the works: if there's room, I'd have a wet room. If there isn't, the largest shower cubicle that will fit, with a ledge at about knee height.

StripeyDeckchair · 20/11/2019 20:45

Shower
Baths are so overrated, environmentally unfriendly and expensive (especially if you're on a water meter)
And its disgusting sitting in your own dirt.
DCs only ever have showers.

PlausibleSuit · 20/11/2019 20:48
