The electricity is heating a smaller area so usage would be less, I think it works out the same as a light bulb. You can also use cheaper cuts of meat which alsi saves money. The big bonus is going out for the day and coming back to a hot meal.

I will look for some recipes then. I just needed to check as wasn’t sure as a normal oven on for less time but a slow cooker smaller but for longer so wasn’t sure if it worked out the same or more.
Good to know it might help

What about an electric pressure cooker? Cooks quicker than an oven, and the seal means you lose less energy in the form of steam.

I was thinking as I already have a slow cooker rather than buying something new just to save as much money as possible

From a quick Google, www.npower.com/blog/2013/02/01/how-much-appliances-cost-to-run/

Depending on what you cook and what condition your appliances are in, it might be more expensive than the oven. But overall it's quite low energy use anyway. The real home energy hogs are heating the house, the hot water, and the tumble drier.
