Your record fastest and slowest Ebay selling times

I recently sold something that I listed two years ago! I'd kind of resigned myself to the fact that it would never sell even though it had plenty of watchers, so I was surprised when it did actually sell. Admittedly I lowered the price a bit.

My record quickest time was half an hour.

Most of my stuff takes between a couple of weeks to a few months.

In my opinion yes, BIN is the way to go. I even switch off the Best Offer thing so if anyone wants the item, they can just pay. Now it does mean that things sometimes sit there for months on end, and you might reduce the price if necessary. But the two major advantages are (a) you never get non-paying bidders, and (b) people can buy it at any time and not have to wait until the auction end time, which might be a time at which they're not free. I've sold things on BIN at all hours including 5.30am.

Or if you really want to do an auction, just start the bidding at the price you want to actually sell it for, then you'll get one bid. I think a lot of auction sellers get disappointed because they start the price far too low, expecting a flurry of interest and a bidding battle that never happens.

Thanks @tectonicplates, just the fee puts me off.

I'll give it a go for my next lot Smile

You only have to pay a BIN fee if it's an extra on an auction. If you just do BIN listing on its own, that's not part of an auction, then it's eligible in your free listings allowance. So if you get the 1,000 free listings per month then it's free to list. Smile

I use ebay to check the price things have sold for, but I don't sell my stuff on there. I use my local Facebook selling page, and Facebook marketplace.
I can list something, and its been collected from my house within half an hour. I made £200 last weekend, listings are free, and I don't need to leave the house!
When I sell to someone, who collects quickly, and then get a flurry of messages from other potential buyers, I sometimes regret not pricing a bit higher, but overall I'm not paying fees, or having to queue at the post office.

Even better! Thanks again.

I'm just coming back to this thread to say I've sold another item that I've been trying to sell for a couple of years. It's finally gone!

About 2 months for a designer bag vs about 2 hours for some headphones
