Gaming computer, I haven’t a clue!!

Year 9 DC really, really, really wants a gaming PC. I thought, fine.
Then I looked them upShock! Seeing as I haven’t won the lottery and know nothing about them, are the cheaper ones an option??
Does anyone know about them, could recommend a certain one?
I have told them that it’s too expensive, but they are saying could they put towards it, include it in bday pressie (March). They are so keen, if I could get one for less I’d get it.
Any advice at all?

We got a refurbed one for £1000 that has done ds very well. £1500 new so a decent saving.

My OH has a side hustle building and selling gaming PCs.
Depending on what games your kid wants to play, you can spend £200-300 and have a great machine.
The secret is not to fall for sales patter!!
You don't actually need to have a £600 CPU fitted to play Fortnite although the guy on commission in PC Planet will try to tell you different 😏

Eh, does he fancy doing one for us What?Grin
£1000 for a Christmas present won’t be happening titchy, saving or not!
I would go up to £350/£400 if I had to, I suppose. Not sure if that’s possible.

I wasn't actually pimping for trade Blush but if you message me with what games he wants to play, I'll ask him for suggestions. Smile

Obviously, if you were local-ish, could arrange one for pick-up.

He usually demos them for the buyer before sale but I guess mailing it could be an option if you really were interested in buying one Grin

DS was the same age when he asked for a gaming PC. I was alarmed at a lot if the prices so he had to prove he understood the cost of it. He saved his birthday money from July and all of his pocket money, he also sold his xbox. Coming up to Xmas we and his grandparents gave him money so when combined he finally had the budget he wanted.

He used the Chillblast website to pick his PC specification and it was built and delivered within 10 days although he was not allowed to open it before xmas day.

Over the last few years for birthdays etc he has requested parts such as a graphics card and CPU to upgrade it and keep it up to date.

I was going to suggest what sunburst s mentioned there.

You can build a serviceable rig now, and he can always add to it over subsequent birthdays and Christmases.

It really is easy to replace things like graphics cards and CPUs.

OH was out of action when he had a hand injury and he talked me through building one for a customer Blush

You can buy an inexpensive case, all the necessary gubbins, and add a few cheap but flash light up fans for this Christmas then he can augment it over time
