Has being on the mini pill improved anyone's mood?

I've just switched from the combined pill to the mini pill. I have had a few ocular migraines and GP said I was at increased risk of stroke or thrombosis and so has switched me to the mini pill. I am also in discussion with the GP about my peri menopause symptoms - she has advised citalopram but MN has pointed me in the direction of the Dr Menopause website and so I now know that I need to push for HRT.
Anyway back to my question, I have only been taking the mini pill for a week, but I feel that my mood has improved. I feel less anxious and more positive. No idea if this could be down to switching pills after such a short time and just wondered if others had experienced similar?
Thanks

I haven't had PMT since taking the mini pill so overall my mood has definitely improved. I'm only 3 months in and I really wish I'd started taking it years ago.

Snaga thank you that's interesting. I may well be thinking the same if it continues to help. I was on the combined pill for 10 years!

Not me but the combined pill made my dd terribly depressed and anxious. She is so much better on the mini pill.

The mini pill made me feel very depressed and made my migraines worse. The combined pill has improved my mood and migraines.

I'm really interested to see the responses to this. I've been on the combined pill for around 15 years apart from when I came off it to try to get pregnant, and I have 2 children.

Over the past couple of years there's been a real pattern to my moods and it's only in the past few months that I'm starting to think about the timings and realise that it might be related to my pill. Around the last week (week 3) of the pill cycle I feel so upbeat and motivated and full of energy. Then from around 3 days after the end of the pack (when I'm on the pill break) I have a real crash, am really irritable and will cry at anything. It's such a dramatic change and I'm starting to wonder if a change to the mini pill might help?

Wintertime, I take the combined pill without a break to try and eliminate hormonal withdrawal symptoms and to keep hormonal levels more stable. There is no medical need to have a break on the combined pill

Yes, definitely had positive effects for me. In fact, I'm petrified someone will one day say I have to stop taking it!

No periods or period pains on the mini pill so in that sense my mood has greatly improved - I am a huge fan of it really

BlindAssassin1 · 18/11/2019 11:20

I went on the minipill during a really stressful time and feel it helped me through, because my hormones were stabilized, and didn't get the high anxiety or depression that I would have expected to feel.

It definitely improved my skin as well.

After nearly a year my mood flat lined, like I felt nothing, not just neutral but cold. Then I got the mother of all migraines and was advised to come off it. It took about a year for the migraines to stop coming. I don't use any chemical contraction now (barrier methods instead).
