Does my (prepayment metre) bill look excessive to you?

It's combined G&E.

I have it set to automatically top up £10 if it falls under £10 (apart from the manual top ups this month when I lost my bank card and had to add a new one)

I also have solar panels on my roof.

How big is your property and how many people live in the property? Also are you gas central heating or storage heaters?

TheLumpiestSpacePrincess · 18/11/2019 08:40

Gas central heating.

6 people.

Small mid terrace. 2 rooms downstairs.

As a comparison, I have put £160 on my gas meter in last 9 weeks. Gas only, 3-bed flat over shops, empty during day.
Looks about similar I'd say, sorry. Energy costs are extortionate atm. I remember when my gas bill was £8 a quarter (no central heating though in that house).

I have a studio flat just me and I pay about £15 week for electric and £10 towards gas but that’s not with heating on. Just hot water and cooking. I’m apparently on the best tariff with Both companies.

If it’s on average £25 each a week on gas and electric. Have you checked on comparison sites about your tariff? Depends who you are with. Legally you are supposed to be giving a annual use totally so it’s easier to work out deals and change if you need.

I was on a prepayment meter and it was extortionate, a big part of poor mental health for me. Is there a debt coming off there? It probably is 'right' but I hate the bloody things, making poor people even poorer in some instances.

TheLumpiestSpacePrincess · 18/11/2019 09:37

No debt, no.

Putting £10 on every couple of days seems excessively high.
I put around £40/50 per month mine but I live alone and am out of the house most of the day.

SamBeckett · 18/11/2019 09:51

Oh I have gch and gas cooker, I am with
e-on

NekoShiro · 18/11/2019 11:03

I live in a one bed flat currently and pay about £50 gas a month in winter and about a tenner a month during summer but it is just two people

SprogletsMum · 18/11/2019 11:06

Theres 6 of us in a mid terrace house and I put £120 on electric and £70 on gas this month and it should just about last til payday.

Stroller15 · 18/11/2019 11:13

We pay about £5 a day for GCH and E. 3 bed end terrace house, with small children in Scotland so heating on almost 24/7. We did repay the previous tenants debt without knowing when we just moved in and that was extortionate.

JorisBonson · 18/11/2019 12:25

Have a look at Bulb. We've taken about a third off our costs, even in cold weather. I have a referral code if you wan it, will give you £50 credit

CherryBathBomb · 18/11/2019 12:29

Electric is £30 a month
Gas £40 a month

2 bed flat, me and two children.

ameliapond · 18/11/2019 13:06

I have a three bed mid terrace, that has an integrated, poorly insulated garage with no radiators, and a downstairs loo also without a radiator. My heating is on from 5am until 8.30pm, between 17 and 20c.
In the last 30 days, I've spent £110.
I'm with utilita on their prepay smart meter.

danmthatonestakentryanotheer · 18/11/2019 13:41

Gas £50pm electric the same. 2 people in a small 2 bed bungalow. We are in credit for both. Incidentally before going onto the gas pre pay, the company we were with wanted £80 pm, so we have found it cheaper this way.

HJWT · 18/11/2019 14:11

I pay £70 direct debit its a few £ more than they asked for but id rather be a bit ahead 2 bed mid terrace with solar panels
