And can recommend a family friendly restaurant where the food is nice rather than microwaved chain pub junk?

Need somewhere for a family lunch in a few weeks that is friendly enough for a 3 year old, 18 month old and 8 month old. Ideally somewhere with a few toys or a small play area but these places are seem to come with terrible food!

Holly Tree Farm or Riverside Farm carvery.

Greedytiger · 17/11/2019 19:09

@ ArnoldBee I’ve looked at those but some of the reviews online are terrible. Is the food any good?

My kids love the carvery. If you go about 12.30 on a Sunday its usually a madhouse but if you go about 3.30 it's a lot more bearable. To be honest the only other inside play area I can think of is The Ferry Boat at Stoke Bardolph. The Wollaton Pub and Kitchen is lovely but not very child friendly.

Thanks. It will be a Saturday lunchtime, carvery isn’t really our thing but will look at their menus.

Shame it's not summer as there are plenty of outside play areas.

Greedytiger · 17/11/2019 19:28

I know, I can think of plenty of nice places if we could be outside!

Stone house at Cotgrave is amazing!

Riverside farm is grim

Misnomer · 17/11/2019 19:31

The Poppy and Pint in Lady Bay is very child friendly and The Goose at Gamston has indoor and outdoor play areas. I have no idea what the food is like at either (other than for kids parties!) so you may have to look up reviews but the actual venues are good for families.

picklemepopcorn · 17/11/2019 19:33

The Burntstump isn't bad- food isn't exceptional but there is a country park there, Play equipment outside, and enough space in the pub to be comfortable with children.

What area of Nottingham? Central? We went to TGI Friday at The Cornerhouse a few weeks ago. No play area but very family friendly.

picklemepopcorn · 17/11/2019 19:38

There are lots of great garden centres that do good food, and obviously tend to have a lot of space.

The White Lion in Brinsley or Shepherds Rest in Underwood are both run by a local butchers and the foods to die for Smile

Larch Farm is rather lovely. Never had a bad experience there

Look at Cafe Sobar in the centre of town.
When we went there were a load of mums and babies meeting for coffee and cake, with probably a health visitor with some weaning posters. Not sure if they bought the toys with them or not.
We went in there because it looked welcoming, and we had a brunch which was delicious. It is run by people who have recovered from various addictions. which we discovered when we were looking at the menu. It doesn't serve alcohol, which in the circumstances is unsurprising.

ArnoldBee · 17/11/2019 19:51

Ed and Molly's playbarn maybe an idea...

Needallthesleep · 17/11/2019 20:02

I’ve taken my toddler to the Larwood and Voce and she has been welcome

Greedytiger · 17/11/2019 20:11

Thanks everyone! We actually live near Ed and Mollys but are meeting some family from Derbyshire so looking for somewhere in the middle ish.

I will have a look at some of those suggestions thanks!

Cafe Sobar has been recommended to me before as a lunch when shopping so has been on my list to try for a while.
