Flower subscriptions

DM has a milestone birthday coming up. She loves flowers, and I thought I'd get her a year's subscription to one of those flower subscription places that send flowers every month, so she has flowers throughout the year.
Has anyone signed up to a good one of these? There are so many and I don't want to get a duff one, but I also don't want to end up spending hundreds!
TIA

I worked for Bunches in a past life and their letterbox flowers are all carnations and 90’s looking shite. They’re also a massive bunch of pricks so go with someone who isn’t them.

Freddie's Flowers is good. My mum was thrilled with the bouquets they sent her

Bloom & Wild have always been nice when I've sent/received them.
Real Flower Co look gorgeous but pricier.

Bloom & Wild are gorgeous. My mother has a subscription and we’ve also sent them to aunts and cousins. They’ve been perfect every time.

Why not ask your local florist? DD did this last year for a birthday present for me.

So DD gave me a lovely ptesent, and supported a local shop. Win win

Lindy2 · 17/11/2019 19:11

I got my mum a 6 month subscription to Bloom and Wild.

They were really nice. Lots of different types of flowers and different colours each month. The flowers lasted well.

Don't pay full price if you go with them though. They do discount deals quite regularly and should have a black Friday deal soon.

timestheybeachangin · 17/11/2019 22:54

Good idea about Black Friday coming up! I’ll ask my local florist, if they can’t then I’ll investigate Bloom & Wild on Black Friday. Thanks!

I've just cancelled my Freddie's flowers subscription because I was fed up of shitty substitutes and crap selections. I know it's been a challenging growing year but every other local florist appears to have worked with it. Wouldn't recommend them.

There's an awful lot of flower threads all of a sudden...

I would definitely try local first. I also gave up on Freddie’s flowers as they were pretty poor quality compared to what I could get locally for the same money.

chesirecat99 · 18/09/2021 12:52

I've used several.

Freddies Flowers are amazing. The bouquets look stunning and have unusual blooms and colours. They look expensive and like they have been created by a florist, rather than like a premium supermarket bouquet, which are lovely but tend to use more generic flowers and colours.

I have heard on MN that some people have had issues with cancelling their subscription in the past though. Also, you sign up for weekly deliveries and have to edit the schedule for your account if you don't want them every week, you can't just opt for monthly deliveries. However, there is the advantage that they publish the next week's bouquet in advance so you can cancel if you don't like it and opt for a different week.

Bloom and Wild are also very good. I don't think their designs are quite as dramatic as Freddies Flowers and I had issues with some of the letterbox flowers not reviving (I would guess that is a risk with any letterbox service though). Their normal delivery flowers and the Bloom and Wild for Ocado bouquets have been excellent though. I would recommend them.

M&S are absolutely terrible. We bought a subscription for my DM for Mother's Day. They started off okay but I've cancelled it after the last 3 "bouquets" were 10 stems of Agapanthus that never opened, 15 gladioli in random colours, and a (admittedly large) bunch of chrysanthemums (like the cheap ones you can buy for a few £ in the supermarket, not the fancy ones). TBF, their customer service has been excellent and they refunded me but I want lovely flowers, not a refund!

That's interesting. I thought they were pretty good value as I don't think I could buy an equivalent bouquet in a local florist for less and the choice of flowers from supermarkets is much more limited, if a lot cheaper. I am in Central London though.

I need to replace DM's M&S subscription though so maybe I will try her local florist.

Well, if we are doing referral codes...

You can get your first £25 bouquet free from Freddies flowers with a referral code, if you want to try it out before you commit. You can change the delivery address back and forth so you could have the first one sent to you to check it out. Plus you can always order flowers for yourself as and when you please on the same subscription.

PM me if you want a code. Or just post again nearer your DM's birthday. I'm sure people will be falling over themselves to send you a code as the person that sends it gets 50% off their next order... Grin
