Do you buy yourself Christmas gifts?

Just that.

And if so, what budget do you set yourself and what are you planning on treating yourself to this Xmas?

I'm considering some DM boots, a piece of jewellery and possibly some skincare (which feels more necessity than present-y!)

Just being nosy and looking for inspiration!

I use my boots points to get myself something I wouldn't normally buy.

All year round I buy stuff for friends and family and accumulate points here there and everywhere and while I can afford to buy whatever I want (within reason) treating myself with boots points feels more like a treat somehow.

Nope

Lololololola · 15/12/2019 20:12

Technically no, but as my dad is on his own now, I usually get him an experience type thing, so it kind of is for me as I go with him.

No, but I did buy a joint present for the DCs which will be going in the lounge for me to enjoy Grin

Aragog · 15/12/2019 20:16

I don't buy myself a gift but I o boy DH a gift, and he gets me one. It's a joint account, so the money belongs to us both. But it's nice to get and receive a surprise or two and the thought that goes into it.

Yes, we could buy the items at any time, but many people don't tend to 'treat' themselves to more expensive items randomly throughout the year. Christmas (and birthdays) feels like a nice reason to do so.

TeaAddict235 · 15/12/2019 20:43

I like that idea @MrsDilligaf .

No i don't buy and wrap presents for myself @imgoingsolow but I do treat myself to the odd bit and bob throughout the year anyway and i suppose that i am extra generous to myself around Christmas (buy 2 special creams on offer).

percheron67 · 15/12/2019 20:51

When my wonderful parents were on this earth they always picked beautiful gifts for me. Now I do buy new scent or any other luxury items to unwrap on Christmas morning. It softens the early part of Christmas Day for me. I only feel really alone for the first hour or two - after that I am content to be by myself.

Icecreambaby · 15/12/2019 20:54

I always buy things for myself. When I buy slightly bigger item for myself close to Christmas, I would just think to myself that it's a Christmas gift to myself Smile. This makes me feel less gullty about the money spent.

thiscouldbethehill · 15/12/2019 21:39

I do this, I won’t wrap things and put them under the tree but I definitely treat myself a bit while I’m doing all the shopping for everyone else. Recently I have got myself a Jo Malone candle, some nice lip balm, a gorgeous little pottery deer made by an artist friend and a pair of Ugg boots. It’s been a crap few months and my dh is having a really busy time at work so quite possibly won’t get round to getting me anything. This way I won’t mind.

AJPTaylor · 15/12/2019 22:53

I won't this year but most years I would happily log on to Amazon Xmas afternoon and order all the things I wanted that nobody had bought me!

ittooshallpass · 15/12/2019 23:08

I buy myself a few nice things in the run up to Christmas. I'm a single mum, so no partner to buy me a present. Family only buy for children (they all have partners to make sure they get gifts 🤷‍♀️) If I didn't buy myself something, I'd get nothing for Christmas!

ittooshallpass · 15/12/2019 23:12

JaJoJe has it.
Maybe consider how lucky you are that you have others to do it for you but remember not everyone else has that.

SpaceCadet4000 · 16/12/2019 02:07

Not really, but I often buy myself a New Year treat of something I've wanted to try but could never really justify the cost. 2 years back it was a fitbit, last year some weights. This year I'm going to be really lame and get a bidet attachment for our loo. DH was in stitches when I told him.

NewInTown08 · 16/12/2019 02:29

After years of disappointing gifts from DH (mainly kitchen and home appliances) I finally decided to buy myself gifts this year and I love it! I am buying myself some items I normally wouldn't as its my Christmas Gift. So far I have purchased a couple of items of clothing, couple of books.. Thinking of making myself a little hamper with some expensive chocolates, wine, cheese 😊

BlackCatSleeping · 16/12/2019 02:35

Yes, I do. I treated myself to a lovely new bag for my birthday. I’ll probably get myself a few things for Christmas too. I also don’t have a partner and my kids are young. Maybe it seems sad, but for a long time I didn’t have any spare money to treat myself. Now I have a bit of spare cash, I think it’s nice to do something nice for myself.

DookofBust · 16/12/2019 03:00

Yes! First Xmas post divorce. I have bought myself a new e-reader and case, some Elizabeth Arden body stuff and a Chanel lipstick. I will be wrapping them too.

StarlightLady · 16/12/2019 07:29

New matching bras and knickers every year. I buy myself late Xmas presents though, because I always wait for the Sales.

PegasusReturns · 16/12/2019 08:56

I buy myself bits and pieces - I don’t generally spend much time in the shops so don’t make too many random purchase throughout the year, but when shopping for others I tend to see lots of stuff that I’d like and so buy as I go.

This year I’ve bought some perfume, makeup and a new handbag.

bsc · 16/12/2019 10:22

I never go shopping, so wandering around the shops doing Christmas shopping is the only time I see things I'd like... sometimes I buy myself things, but I don't wrap them or anything.

Dowser · 16/12/2019 10:45

Yes..all the time.
Not just for Christmas.
