Board book, hardback or paperback for a two year old?

I'm planning on buying a book or two for a relative's 2nd birthday. I don't see her very often, and I don't have kids myself.

I want to get a classic children's story; something like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? or The Tiger Who Came to Tea, but can't decide about the format...

Would a board book be best as it's the most robust? But do children outgrow these very quickly?

Are hardbacks too heavy? Are paperbacks too flimsy?

Please help, somebody with more toddler knowledge than me which is basically everyone!

Thanks in advance!

Hardback- the pages are robust and allow for the toddler to turn the pages themself (which encourages independent reading)

Tiger one in hardback is a hit I'd say!

Ah brilliant, thanks both!

My 2 year old would still accidentally rip a hard back book with paper pages. So I would still go for board book. He has some paper paged books but can only look at them under my supervision.
