Oh my days. Teachers are marvellous. I don't know how they do it.

Nativity practice was eye opening Shock

I don't know how they do it. I volunteer at a sports club and have the pre school/reception aged kids for one hour once a week. I regularly need to lie down in a darkened room afterwards, quite literally. Anyone who works with very young children day in day out has my utmost respect.

DH is a reception teacher. By the end of each term he is a shell of a human. The days are high energy and he works most evenings as well. I’m trying to get him to quit, the stress isn’t worth it!

I’m a year one teacher working part time and I regularly think about quitting. It’s exhausting.

My TA is lovely but she’s thinking about resigning and working in Waitrose. £8.93 an hour to start with and staff discount. I think she’s currently on £9.70 an hour for 26 hours a week. As an experienced TA.

I will never understand how they get reception class children all changed for p.e and back again, or get them to do the school plays. It makes me want to lay in a dark room thinking about it.
My DC's primary school does weekly 'come read with your child' sessions for about 20 minutes before home time. Sounds pleasant enough. In reality it involves perching on a miniature chair in a deafeningly loud classroom, your child climbing over your lap, trying to shout-read to your child and all their friends who's parents aren't there. No one is interested in the book, they're all chatting and firing questions at you. I end up leaving with a hoarse throat and my ears ringing. And that's after 20 minutes. I take my hat off to teachers!

I've done Mobile DJing for schools. They're always the best crowd but I always end up hard of hearing for several days afterwards.
By far my favourite though.
But yes, teachers are amazing. They do so much for so little recognition

Particularly when a child with a main part succumbed to a lurgy at the last minute, or another vomited over the props. (Yes, that did happen.)
I always used to get everyone to learn all the parts - I planned the script into literacy lessons - so someone could easily step in to cover for anyone off with a tummy bug or the inevitable chicken pox.

I actually had one of the angels vomit over the angel in front of him as they lined up to go into the hall. I had to go into the audience to find his mum while the TA cleaned up the vomited on one and quickly found another costume.
