Driving the next day

I had a lot of wine last night but no idea how much, my glass was being topped up. I hardly ever drink and generally not more than a few glasses so I checked an online calculator, guessing I had 7 glasses of wine and I can't drive until 7pm!! Totally unexpected and means I will need to change my days plans.

I'm wondering though how many people are aware it can take that long? I have friends who I think are driving the following day on a regular basis.

A family friend got done the "morning after", banned from driving of course. In the same week another member of their family got their car stolen - not a good time for anybody that.

Better safe than sorry. If it's regularly a concern consider a breathalyser kit. But keep in mind they might not be accurate - if the police pull you over and you're over the limit, "my own tester said I was OK" is in no way a defence.

I drove at 5pm in the end. I think in future I will make sure I don't go over one bottle of wine - seems the simplest solution.

I always thought the "got caught the morning after" was an excuse but it seems very possible.

As for many losing my license would be disastrous.

I’m astounded you had a bottle and a half of wine and have no hangover!!
I’d feel awful which would remind me not to drive.

Yes I got off lightly!

Losing my license If I was pulled over and breathalised over the limit wouldn’t be catastrophic in that it wouldn’t affect my ability to get to work but If I had an accident and caused damage/injury etc I probably would, I think it’s probably in our staff code of conduct somewhere.
If dp lost his due to drink driving, he would struggle. He’s self employed and owns a business with another guy. I’m sure it could be worked around but it would seriously limit their abilities.
