Can I return these boots?

Bought a pair of boots from a well
Know brand, which were quite expensive. I have wore them once and they are so uncomfortable. I have tried plasters and socks but there is piece of material which sticks out making them unwearable. They have a few small marks on sole from wearing once.

Would they accept a return?

I doubt it as they're not in a sellable condition.

Comfort is completely subjective.

GretelGreen · 16/11/2019 07:32

No you can’t because they can’t re-sell them. BUT it’s worth ringing customer services and asking what their policy is. I feel for you. What a bummer!

This makes them not fit for the purpose they were sold for. I'd call up or go in and nicely ask for a refund. Speak to the manager if necessary.

Go in an explain. If it is a sticking out piece of material they may be faulty. Or you might not be the only one who's complained. You have nothing to lose.

Thank you for replies. I think I'll go in shop and just explain and hopefully it is a fault with the boot and others have returned too.

Shame as I really like the boots

Where did you buy them from? Asking as some shops are easier to return to than others.

adaline · 16/11/2019 08:21

It depends on the shop - so the best thing to do is take the shoes in and explain the problem. If the extra bit of fabric is a manufacturing fault then you should be entitled to an exchange or a refund.

Bringing something back because it's not fit for purpose isn't the same as returning something because you've just changed your mind.

However lots of shops will fight you tooth and nail to stop you getting your money back so that's something to be aware of! Shop policy will come into play here - some are more generous than others and will offer you an exchange or refund, others will tell you it's tough luck or insist on a credit note.

You could always sell on eBay.

No you can’t because they can’t re-sell them

That doesn't mean she's not entitled to a refund.

Hi just a quick update, I returned the boots and explained to the cashier and straight away she said it looks like a fault, couldn't exchange as didn't have them in store, but I was refunded. Excellent customer service from Topshop

Great news OP

AloneLonelyLoner · 17/11/2019 21:06

This is great!

Your rights by statute are that is something is not fit for purpose (as assumed by the product, so shoes for wearing, hammer for hammering etc) then you are entitled to return them.

People should always return an item which is not doing its job. Always.

Proper customer service from Top Shop, Well done Top Shop.

Can you post a positive review somewhere for them. Good service deserves to be rewarded
