I’m thinking about going to uni to do the adult nursing degree. I will have 1 child at primary school and 1 at nursery who is not old enough for funding.
My husband is self employed and doesn’t earn enough to support me so wondered if anyone has any advice about finances etc to help support uni for 3 years. Thanks

Student loan ? Although I don’t know how much it is . I doubt very much you’d get benefits to go back to university

0300 100 0607 - Student finance England. There are different numbers if Scotland or Wales. They will be able to clarify.

Your DPs income will be considered with student finance; if under £20k (I think, may be 22k) you will ne eligible for the full loan, about 9k per year. You may also be eligible for the depends grant, though I'm not certain how it works with a working adult in the home as I'm a single parent.

There is a childcare grant of c10.5k, which will pay up to 85%of childcare to a registered provider, up till the grant amount. Again, I don't know how this works with another parent in the home.

The wait time to talk to them is normally long, but they're pretty helpful most of the time.

Also, if you still claim TAX CREDITS, these will stay the same, student loans are disregarded for this. Student loans ARE considered income for universal credit, so factor that in to budgeting.

Dependants grant*

This is administered by SFE, so they can clarify that too. Also, many universities have lots of bursaries going. Mine gives at least £2.5k to anyone with a household under £45k per year. So if your sure of what university it will be, have a look on their funding/finance (it will be called something like that) page on their website.
