Harry Potter Studios - what to do with reluctant sibling??

We have booked tickets to take one DD to HP studios as a Christmas gift. We'll be staying in North London as part of a longer trip. One parent will take her. The other will be entertaining DD10 for the day based at the same hotel. She's not interested in HP at all and cannot be persuaded. Could anyone recommend some awesome/distracting/entertaining things we could do with her instead in North or Central London? If pricey, that's ok as could be part of a Christmas gift. Not museums. I love museums and so does she but looking for something different (it's just I don't know what!!!). She's crafty and creative and moderately brave. Favourite toy is Lego but we've been on a pilgrimage to the big Lego shop before. Unfortunately Matilda is not an option either.

MN opinion is divided on this attraction but I loved Shrek World of Adventure at the South Bank.

Over Christmas the new Bridge Theatre by Tower Bridge is showing a stage version of the children’s book The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. It is in a great location to combine with other attractions. However it is eyewateringly expensive. A good seat is over £100.

Moderately brave? London dungeon, golden Hinde, prison museum, aquarium, borough market for lunch or soho for dimsum.
London Eye, How old? As young teens mine enjoyed the necrobus but that is in the evening.
Theatre, doesn't have to be Matilda,

Climb the O2?

I love the V&A; and it used to at least have great kids trails where you create/draw based on exhibits. The jewellery/gems section is eye-popping....

Sorry, just spotted age.
Boat trip, matinee followed by afternoon tea, Madame Tussaud's.

London Dungeons - took DS 7 and he loved it.

It won't take all day so you could combine it with a ticket to Shrek or the Aquarium and do one of each either side of lunch. Best to prebook though as they have time slots for entry

DS is hoping to go to Shrek next time we're in London.

An alternative is the Tower - that makes for pretty well a full day out and you can add to the excitement by taking the river boat to get there

Balloon flight

Wow some great ideas thank you. Aquarium is a strong contender w London eye. I know nothing of Shrek so will investigate that. Tower a good shout, but it's on my own list and I reckon I will be on HP duty. Must have a look and see what's on at the theatre (Feb half term).

It's a real shame she won't go because I loved the HP studio tour! It's amazing! I'm not a HP fan at all- I don't know the characters or stories and despite going twice with DC, still don't! Loved it though. It's fascinating!

London Zoo? You could get tickets for one of the bus tours as they take in most of the main sites and you can hop on and off as you like. Kensington Palace? Boat trip on the Thames? A trip down to Greenwich would fill the day and is pretty interesting. You could go by boat and return by rail to get a different perspective.

Snow centre at Hemel Hempstead isn't far from WB Studio Tour. She could have a ski or snowboarding lesson or go on the ringo slide. Also in Hemel there is the XC. Where she could do Caving, climbing or High ropes.

Adesignforstrife · 15/11/2019 18:39

Snow centre an excellent idea. She would love that. Will see if I can get a lesson booked. If not, then lots of other ideas to fall back on!!
