Office Christmas Party

Thisismyusernamefornow · 15/11/2019 06:41

I'm tasked with the Xmas office party.

We have talked about some funny awards but I'm drawing a blank! Needs to be fun and fill about an hour. Prizes will be awarded (some fun and some more special!).

Please help me!

Also any other good Christmas games etc.

There's about 20 of us. Mixed age group but all good fun people and we can take it quite close to the bone with humour Wink

Glad I don't work there.

Snappiest dresser
Weirdest tie owner
Daftest mistake this year
Best gossip
Most pessimistic
Most optimistic
Holidays we are all jealous of
Most unusual hobby

Forced fun, what a lark

A pub quiz? Several rounds?

An hour of prizes sounds like a bit much imo.

Quizzes always went down well at my workplace. Or just spending the prize money on extra booze...

TeenPlusTwenties · 15/11/2019 07:01

A pub quiz sounds so much safer.
Awards would be really hard to get the tone right and you risk upsetting someone (and getting the blame).

Bourbonbiccy · 15/11/2019 07:23

I personally hate office parties but for people who do (or if it were with my friends ) I like the awards mentioned upthread, I think if you can all take a joke it would be funny and the titles sound good.

Bourbonbiccy · 15/11/2019 07:24

A pub quiz sounds boring for a Christmas party IMO.

Thisismyusernamefornow · 15/11/2019 08:24

@Cruddles lol 😂

‘Funny’ awards are very risky. Feelings will be hurt.

WeakAsIAm · 15/11/2019 09:20

Agree 'funny' awards aren't always funny. If you want them, make them all positive ones ie snappiest dresser.

Any with negative connotations; gossip, biggest mistake may not sit well with the recipient.

Activities are usually good quiz, or role the penny to hit the Prosecco bottle. Prizes that are booze always go down well

OhioOhioOhio · 15/11/2019 09:30

Funny awards are very unfunny.

You have to be in exactly the right mood and have had exactly the right amount of alcohol.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 15/11/2019 11:08

Get everyone to bring in photos of themselves with their worst haircut. Vote on which is the worst worst.

Sibello · 15/11/2019 11:15

anonymous compliments?
Celeb look a like?
Who is most likely to...?

OhioOhioOhio · 15/11/2019 11:22

Omg. I wouldn't go. My work colleagues film everything then post it online.

Likethebattle · 15/11/2019 12:22

Daftest mistake this year
That’s horrible, you should be able to learn from mistakes and move on, not have all your workmates laughing and herring and knowing you aren’t going to live it down.

iklboo · 15/11/2019 12:30

Baby photos - guess who is who

midsomermurderess · 15/11/2019 12:40

An hour of the party given over to awards sounds painful. I think you will struggle to keep people's attention beyond 15 minutes.

Thisismyusernamefornow · 15/11/2019 13:24

@Sibello I like the celeb lookalikes. That could be really entertaining.

We will be keeping it all positive and the awards thing has been agreed with all members of staff who are keen to join in!
