Park Run - is it possible with no training?

I know it's 5k and not a marathon but I've been invited to run this weekend and I'm worried it will be awful.

I have general fitness but I don't train for anything and I don't do any running.

Will this be a really bad idea?

@Nirvana1979 at 34 minutes you’d be in the middle of the pack at my local one. Ours finishes around 50-55 minutes. We get an average of 200 runners.

I love park run and go every week, but admit I’d be a bit put off if I was coming last every week. Can you take someone with you? Run and chat with a friend and a coffee after.

Yes will go back! It was a nice run - friendly experience. Quite busy. I think about 800 runners. All sorts of ages too.

@Thisismyusernamefornow that's a fab time! I did just over 40 mins on a totally flat course! 🙈 But I lapped everyone still in bed, right?

Nirvana which parkrun is that? I've not done any in Scotland but that sounds very strange, especially if the nearest one is 30 mins away. Most parkruns' slowest time is way over 45 minutes, usually closer to an hour.

I wouldn't worry about club gear - being a club runner doesn't mean you're fast, it just means you are a member of a club, which gets you cheaper entry fees for races. In my club we have runners who will do a parkrun in anything from 16 minutes to 56 minutes.

I hate running! I have jeffed 2 park runs and both took me just under an hour!
