Posted this on general health aswell but put it here for traffic.

Had a mucus discharge for 3 weeks now which I was examined by doctor for who found internal piles. At the same time, a course of antibiotics caused diarrhoea which exacerbated the piles. Went back to the gp who said it was definitely caused my the abs and it would clear within a few weeks. That has started to calm down now thankfully but the mucus is still present. Other than that the piles aren’t causing me much pain, more of a stinging I can vaguely feel a little way inside.

This has seriously brought on my health anxiety even though I know what it is I can’t stop googling the symptoms. I just feel rotten with constant worrying. On top of all this I’ve started the mini pill, I’m taking probiotics, venlafaxine and now anusol suppositories to try and get these piles under control.

I don’t have any other symptoms, no blood in poo or stomach ache but constantly think the worst.

I don’t even know what I’m asking here just needed to vent confused

Oh poor thing, I had them after childbirth. I was very lucky to have had them treated in August so I am currently pile free!

Shittyshittybangbang2019 · 14/11/2019 17:50

All the info online says that they will go after a few days - this can’t be true!!!

I have become obsessed with checking my poo now. I read about long stringy poo being a sign of cancer last night and low and behold I’ve had a thin poo today so I am in panic mode

Carry on venting, Shitty. My DD1 has health anxieties and talking about things to exhaustion tends to help her.

I've been a martyr to piles since my eldest was born. Beware the over-the-counter type of medication. I have an allergy to an ingredient in them (as do a lot of people), which I only found out about during pregnancy with DD2. I was religiously using the cream and the suppositories and nothing was getting any better. I reported back to the doctor and he put me on prescription-only medication - everything sorted within days.

If the doctor has examined you and found no sign of anything sinister, it's most likely that the antibiotics are causing your poo issues. Doctors are pretty hot on that sort of thing.

I’ve just went to ask some advice from the chemist. He’s given me the anusol hc suppositories now. He is completely sure the antibiotics have caused the poo issues - I asked why I’ve never had a problem with other ones and he’s explained that they kill different bacteria. He also said that the regular anusol suppositories are greasy so could also cause changes in poo. He’s recommended I take 2 doses of probiotics a day (only been taking one and only for last 5days). He was very unsurprised at my symptoms so I’m feeling very reassured

@Shittyshittybangbang2019 what probiotics are you using? I seem to keep on getting very minor piles and wondering if they would help!

Shittyshittybangbang2019 · 15/11/2019 19:09

He said just to take yakult or actimel. Primarily to calm my bowel movements so that I don’t go to the loo as much and irritate the piles
