Trying to be more appreciative of stuff lately and notice what makes me happy

Tonight .. it's chucking it down I'm snuggled in bed warm and dry .. the rain is lashing against the window .. happy!

What little things make you happy?

I love listening to rain too. I also like being all cosy and hearing the wild wind outside, make you appreciate being all warm and cosy at home.

Allyg1185 · 14/11/2019 08:36

Smell of coffee
Smell of cut grass in summer
A good book
My slippers
Frosty mornings
Autumn walks in the sunshine
Spending time with my ds and dh

Corneysjazzband · 14/11/2019 08:57

My sleepy cat rolling over to ask for a belly rub and wrapping little warm paws round my hand.

Froggledoggleoggle · 14/11/2019 09:00

The smell of butter melting into toast.
Baby laughter.
Fresh bed sheets
New books!!

HRH2020 · 14/11/2019 09:03

Freshly mowed lawn
Spring blossom and blue skies
Christmas Day morning dog walk
Driving through the countryside and marvelling at all the space
Listening to the sea
Being engrossed in a really good book or tv show

BadgertheBodger · 14/11/2019 09:07

DS grabbing my face and saying “I luff you” unprompted
Walks on cold mornings across iron hard fields while the sun comes up
The way the beck sounds in my favourite place
Lighting the woodburner in the evening and turning the lamps on
Sunday morning snoozy cuddles when we’ve managed to persuade a grandparent to have DS so we don’t die of sleep deprivation
Everything ticked off my enormous to do list hahahahahaha

Letseatgrandma · 14/11/2019 09:08

Listening to rain here is usually followed by drippings and something leaking so that’s not too on my list!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 14/11/2019 09:09

Taking my bra off after a long day. YES So sad but so true as well.
The smell of cut grass is amazing.
Things that I have planted actually flowering is gorgeous
An awesome playlist
Yes to new books! I could hoard books.
Cat head butts
Electric blankets and fireplaces
Mac and cauliflower cheese
Small (or big) wins at work

MonsteraCheeseplant · 14/11/2019 09:15

Christmas lights

LetsPlayDarts · 14/11/2019 09:16

Watching my DS's sleep.

Watching Sex and the City episodes almost 20 years after the first time.

That first glass of wine in my local pub.

Watching TV under a blanket with my DP and DS's.

A family bike ride through the woods.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 14/11/2019 09:17

The colour of trees in autumn

MonsteraCheeseplant · 14/11/2019 09:19

I might print this thread off, it's really important to remember this stuff sometimes.

peaceanddove · 14/11/2019 10:32

An early morning cup of coffee fully loaded with cream and sugar.

Wearing pretty, matching bra and pants.

Going to bed ridiculously early with a cup of tea and a good book. Extra bliss if the bed is freshly made up with clean linen.

Cuddles with DH, he gives the best cuddles ever.

Bezalelle · 14/11/2019 10:52

When I lie down on the sofa and my cat comes and flops down beside me.

The first cup of tea in the morning.

Fresh sheets!

A new shower gel or bubble bath.

A new hardback book.

spiderlight · 14/11/2019 11:09

Listening to my dog snoring.

Dogs carrying stuff. They just look so pleased with themselves. Mine always has to run and find a teddy, the bigger the better, to greet us or anyone else who comes to the house (I have been known to say to DS's friends/random delivery men, 'Hold on a second - the dog wants to show you his teddy').

Tea. Just tea. There's nothing quite like it.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 15/11/2019 23:09

The sound of a purring cat

Ginfordinner · 15/11/2019 23:11

Now you're talking Monstera. I love cats.
The sound of a lawnmower. It means that it is summer and the weather is dry.

SeaSidePebbles · 15/11/2019 23:16

The smell of coffee
candles
My bedroom
Driving listening to music
The feeling I get after a run
Swimming
Looking at the sea
Being on holiday
Cycling

Eckhart · 15/11/2019 23:22

Lovely thread.
I like the feeling when I've fixed a broken thing.
I like walking the dog in the rain with waterproofs on - over my pyjamas
I like getting into bed when the electric blanket's been on for HOURS
I like the feeling when I know I'm falling asleep reading in bed and I don't even have time to turn the light off.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 15/11/2019 23:24

Walking in the woods
I love listening to the rain and thunderstorms (as long as there are no leaks and flood threats, of course)
Having my window open and hearing the sounds of the night.
Watching birds in my garden. I have a feeder on a tree.
Going to a library or bookshop.
Baking
A clean house

Ginfordinner · 15/11/2019 23:32

Walking in the woods on a warm spring day when the bluebells are in flower.

TimeforanotherChange · 15/11/2019 23:37

Great thread!
Lashing rain and howling wind when you're cosy in bed.
Crisp sunny Autumn days...walking on the beach with the dog.
Lazy hot summer days in the garden with the smell of newly cut grass.
Fresh sheets
Reading all day.
The house to myself
Outside somewhere where I can see for miles and there is no other human being in sight.
Coffee in a cafe; people watching everyone who walks by, making up stories in my head
Putting pyjamas on after a day at work, ridiculously early and feeling satisfied at the idea of being 'done' for the day..

Jambalaya76 · 15/11/2019 23:53

There are definite links here. Books, rain, autumn, family, cycling, coffee, laughing, wine, clean house, candles, playlists, movies, walks, countryside, clean sheets, sound of laugher, babies, alone time, snuggles. The essence of the best things in life

morriseysquif · 15/11/2019 23:56

Snoozing in a warm bed with fresh sheets
My DC cuddles
A good fire to sit by
A good book I can't put down
A big glass of red wine
Crisp frosty mornings
The high after a run
A tune to dance to
A plate of crispy topped macaroni cheese
A quiet, tidy, clean house and nothing to do
The anticipation of a night out
Cycling downhill after a hard climb
