Never come across them before, but i think my DD has them in her bed.

One leg is covered in bites. From thigh to ankle. Just a few on the other leg.

Do they just bite one side?!

I’ve checked the bed, cant see any blood, bugs, no trace of anything. Ill strip everything tomorrow and vacuum it too.

My grandma told me you go round the seams of the mattress with damp soap to remove bedbugs etc.
She was born in 1909 and spent a lot of the nineteen sixties warning me of things that could possibly happen...

A bar of soap? Worth a try!

Was attacked by bed bugs two years ago. This is what I know......

They're really hard to get rid of. Heat kills them, washing doesn't, throw everything you can in a dryer and blast it for 20 mins at least. They don't just live on beds, they'll live anywhere near to a regular meal, rugs, curtains, behind the skirting etc. Commercial bed bug sprays work to a point but may need more than one application and contain a lot of chemicals, you'll need to spray the mattress so get a mattress cover to put on the bed after when the mattress is dry. The best thing I found is diatomaceous earth (food grade, very important) - you can order it on Amazon. This stuff is amazing, it's just very very fine silica dust and won't do any harm to humans or pets. Get a dry paint brush and brush it everywhere, bed, skirting, floor and especially around the bed legs. You'll need to leave it for a few days but you won't really notice it and you can hoover it all up easily. It will kill any bugs (and spiders, ants etc) that come into contact with it. Also bed bug bites don't hurt when they're happening, they can take two weeks to show up (so you may not have been bitten in your own home) and the bites tend to be in threes in a row, some people have no reaction at all, others are not so lucky.
