What age is too old for soft play?

When the regulation says so, or if the child not longer wants to go.

BertieBotts · 13/11/2019 13:44

When they're not allowed in any more?

BillHadersNewWife · 13/11/2019 13:45

Usually about 8

NannyR · 13/11/2019 13:46

It depends on the venue - some are very much aimed at toddlers and kids are too old for them at four, other venues are much bigger and more adventurous and kids up to ten get a lot out of playing there.

formerbabe · 13/11/2019 13:48

Most places have an age or height limit.

I'd say 11

Damntheman · 13/11/2019 14:13

I'd also say when they're not allowed in anymore. But I would then beg anyone with older kids to actually keep a vague eye on them now and then. Not one soft-play visit goes by without me having to step in when older kids (8-11) are hogging all the toddler area toys and their parents are nowhere in sight. It drives me NUTS. I'm very happy my daughter is three now and getting too old for the toddler area.

Winterdaysarehere · 13/11/2019 14:14

Still at primary school age.

Musicalstatues · 13/11/2019 14:16

Do you mean from a child’s perspective? I think they’re all different but my 8 year old is definitely finding it less interesting these days and isn’t that keen to go. Shame the 5 year old still loves it!

Greenbutterlfy566 · 13/11/2019 15:09

Thanks. I meant on average what age do you think they lose interest.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 13/11/2019 15:10

Mine lose interest about 8-9 years old.

But could be persuaded to go round in aid of a younger sibling, possibly.

Vanillaradio · 13/11/2019 16:23

I think round about 8/9. I have a 6 year old and find that's about the age his friends' older siblings start rolling their eyes and saying it's boring and babyish (although can still be persuaded in with the younger ones and seem to enjoy it).

ShinyGiratina · 13/11/2019 18:09

DS1 started losing interest at 7 when DS2 had a flurry of parties. The set-ups near us aren't the most older children friendly anyway and some we drifted away from by 5-6, which the DCs could swarm over competantly at 2 despite supposedly being 4+.

From 7, the parties go more to climbing/ laser quest/ trampoline parks etc.

IdiotInDisguise · 13/11/2019 18:13

When the toddlers start relentlessly following them around to their dismay.

IdiotInDisguise · 13/11/2019 18:14

I would say 7 or 8

OrangeZog · 13/11/2019 18:16

I would say around four years younger than the maximum age the venue is geared at.

Spied · 13/11/2019 18:17

DS(10) started moaning last year when his DD (8) kept asking for us to go to the local soft play.
DD will still go to the soft play if invited by a friend but much prefers the local trampoline or roller skating park now.

Spied · 13/11/2019 18:18

Not his DD!

OneToThree · 13/11/2019 18:19

Dts are 8 and it’s now.

MoonlightBonnet · 13/11/2019 18:21

My DS is 8 and likes it only if they’re huge and have a trampoline

Wobba11 · 13/11/2019 18:21

DS (8) and is over it If we go when he's alone.

If he goes with DSS (7) of he finds a 'friend" there, they'll play for hours.

AfterSchoolWorry · 13/11/2019 18:40

My 7 year old lost interest last year! Says it's for babies!

RedskyToNight · 13/11/2019 18:42

It depends on the soft play area - some are more aimed at older children whereas others are more targeted at pre-school/younger school age.

TokyoSushi · 13/11/2019 18:44

DS is 8 and he's pretty much done.

Mrsfrumble · 13/11/2019 18:47

DS is 9 and still loves it. Due to his SN he does seem quite young for his age; I expect Some of his peers might be over it.

user1493413286 · 13/11/2019 18:48

About 9 I’d say DD lost interest
