Does this look like exzema on DD3 *pics attached

DD (age 3) has had these patches of dry, rough skin on her back for a few weeks. Does this look like exzema or does anyone know what it could be?

There are probably 4/5 separate patches all on her back.

Thanks Smile

That looks exactly like eczema to me. Both me and ds are covered in it.

But take her to your gp to be sure. The Internet is not the place to ask for a diagnosis

Yes, the chemist will be helpful. Should feel rough to the touch.

If you've been moisturizing them and they're not getting better or getting nastier I'd be tempted to make a quick docs appointment but if you've not used any cream or anything, no need.

Might be due to a change in washing powder?

Thanks both. I haven’t applied creams yet. Kids get so many of these sorts of things that I just thought they’d probably disappeared but today I realised she’s had them for a few weeks without any improvement. I’ll probably pop to the chemist and see what cream they suggest.

If it is exzema, is this likely to be something that will get worse? I have no experience of this sort of thing so I’m really clueless. Thanks Smile

I meant to say, we haven’t changed washing powder or soaps or anything that I can think of.

No my children get infrequent eczema flare ups - change in temp often does it, or too much swimming etc. Anything drying to the skin or change in chemicals. It often goes away by itself but when I remember I grab them and stick a bit of Aveeno cream on and it's fine in a couple of days.

Its just a fancy name for a dry patch for most children, but occasionally some get it very severe. Mine suffered more when they were little but are more or less growing out of it.

Mine gets worse in the winter and when I'm especially tired/sick/stressed /run down, so it could have something to do with going back to school, but ds's gets much worse in the summer as his is aggravated by sweat and sun cream.

Worth just keeping an eye on it for now, it doesn't look too bad at the moment (there was one point where ds's whole back was covered and it was red raw and very sore).

Has she complained of it being itchy at all?
