Meal ideas without a kitchen...

Currently in the process of getting our kitchen done up, so have a big empty room stripped back to the plaster.

What can i make for dinner that isnt a week eating pot noodles, but that can be done without an oven/hob/grill??

I have access to a toaster, a kettle and a microwave (have set up a mini-kitchen in the living room) and the fridge is also in the living room.

Need some inspiration on how to get through this, its not going to be finished for at least a week and a half...

@billandbenflowerpotmen1 I love my instant pot and would replace it immediately if it died Grin I do porridge in it every morning (pot in pot though!). It does brilliant risotto and I did a lovely lentil sausage casserole from the instant pot uk Facebook site. I find dinners do taste better if you do saute onions etc and not just put everything in raw. Usually instant pot is in black Friday sale on amazon so might be worth looking then.

Pasta n sauce, and flavoured packets of dried rice cook in a food flask in about 20- 30 minutes. Not tried plain pasta or rice but don't see why not.

Vegetables can be cooked in the microwave. And rice. Do you have a slow cooker? Friend used to cook whole chicken in it.

We borrowed a single induction hob plate and that was a godsend.

One pan meals like curry, pasta sauces and then rice in the microwave or pasta cooking after the sauce, meat with jacket potatoes in the microwave.

Do you still have your freezer? We also use frozen veg and just bung it in the microwave.

You can do couscous with hot water from a kettle

Cook meals are great.

Buy an electric wok or slow cooker, or both.

With an electric wok you can cook anything you'd usually do on a stove top, with rice or jacket potatoes done in the microwave. Slow cookers are great for pot roasts, casseroles and things like goulash, curry, chilli etc that taste better for slow cooking.

If you really don;t want to cook, those Jamie Oliver pouches are great - things like rice and beans or spiced lentils. Taste like home cooking. They are staples or sides rather than mains - you'd need a bit of protein and fresh veg to go with them.

I had no kitchen for two months a couple of years ago. The slow cooker was my friend. And the microwave.
