NHS or private physio for child?

My ds has been referred to physio after a fractured ankle. My experience with nhs physio hasn’t been great - quick chat, print out of online exercise and off you go.

I’m considering going private for him (the foot/ ankle is such an important part of the body), but don’t know how it works.

-Has anyone found it better or is it the same?

-He's still seeing his nhs consultant for the fracture - will going private cause problems?

-will going private mean he can't/ shouldn’t do the nhs physio (ie if I’m not happy, is there no going back?

-is private a waste of time seeing as the nhs physio is on offer?

He's 11.

Thanks in advance

My DD has been under an NHS physio for a couple of years for ongoing issues with an unstable knee. She’s seen 3 different people during that time and they have all been fantastic. In fact, I’m not sure that she would have had the op that fixed her knee a year ago if her physio hadn’t pushed a referral to the right consultant.

After her op she was being seen weekly, with a lot of emphasis on regaining strength and mobility. She’s always given exercises to do between sessions, and the physio can tell how well she’s been doing them due to the progress they can see (or not sometimes!)

I think the fact that she was also under a consultant for some time after the op meant that there was a defined treatment plan, rather than something a bit more vague.

A lot of pediatric services aren’t available privately. Have you checked if this definitely is?
