This is actually laughable as it was so bad. Today I was in NatWest as my husband is doing a Masters through his work and wanted to change his account to a student account. Anyway, we were told a 10 minute wait and after 40 we were still waiting. I enquires why this was and was told ‘they were busy’. I asked why the man couldn’t have kept us (and all the other customers) informed of the waiting time and he then put his hand up to my face, walked off and started talking to someone else. I said I hadn’t finished my query and he said ‘he didn’t have time to update people on waiting times’ despite sitting 6 feet away from everyone. Anyhow, he then yelled at me and my husband that we weren’t welcome at the branch and he was going to shut our account 😂😂 Crazy.

Had numerous.
Boots - was looking at make up, holding a tester for something. manager came storming over shouted in my face, reprimanding me for opening whatever I was looking at - I hadn’t. shouting ‘how was She supposed to sell that now ‘
After I got over my initial shock, I don’t do well with people shouting in my face. I asked her for the complaints procedure and details of her manager, who I would be complaining to. To which she replied she didn’t have one ‘I AM THE MANAGER’. I asked her did she manage the whole of Boots, apparently she did. I contacted head office and they assured me they would deal with this and thanks for feedback and sent me a voucher for £20.
Whilst I confronted the horrible witch, presumably one of her underlings stood open mouthed at her behaviour. I sincerely hope she treated her staff better than she treated her customers.

Me and my partner was passing Aldi in the next town from us I said I was running in for a pint of milk, my partner stayed outside as he was vaping he then followed me in store as he was just about to suggest that we do the weekly shop, I told him to grab a basket on wheels as I didn't have a pound for a trolley.
He had just picked the basket up as a man approached us im guessing with the way he was dressed he was security. He said to my partner if your buying alcohol you carnt have a basket (we don't drink ) my partner said I'm not buying alcohol but I would like to know why I carnt get a basket if I'm buying alcohol what am I ment to carry them in my arms the security then grabbed the basket from my partner and said I don't have to give you an explanation he then grabbed my partner by the arm and proceeded to push him out of the store saying he now didn't want him in store and he doesn't have to give an explanation why.
When I complained a women phoned me saying sorry and that I wouldn't be getting anymore information on the situation as they carnt discuss dismall of staff members so don't know if he got the sack.

When I was a kid I had a sat job in a town two bus rides away .
I took a pair of shoes to the cobbler timpsins to be repaired on the sat and collected them after work . All good , got home to find he had given me the wrong shoes ( they were in a stapled over paper bag ) I phoned and was told to return them , which I did , no apology just a surly grunt .
I then asked for my bus fare in compensation ( laughing at this now it was about 36p back
In the day ) and he was shocked and then refused .
So from god knows where , I got the courage to say ok what is your head office address , his face was a picture and asked why ?
‘ so I can explain the situation to them and get my money ‘
He gave me my 36p .

( was probably coached through this prior to returning by my shop steward dad but maybe not

16 then , still bolshy 😂

Had lots since and really do feel for you all
My worst one was when my mum died and I was closing all her utilities , startedconversation with ‘ my mum ( insert name ) has died and I want to close the account ‘
One of the replies I got was a breezy ‘ ok great , can I speak to your mum ? ‘
I replied
You will have a hard job Love she’s dead .
Embarrassed silence
Still pisses off years later

In a DIY store, DD was about 11 months and walking fairly confidently while holding hands. I stopped to look at something and she stood next to me leaning her head against a shelf. When she moved we discovered a tube of super glue had spilled on said shelf as a hank of her hair (thin baby hair) had been ripped out and she now had an angry red bald patch and was howling. I informed someone at the till, literally just told them, wasn’t angling for any freebies or anything, and this staff member gave me the filthiest look and said “she’s a bald baby, she doesn’t even have any hair.”
Me: (pointing at the red bald patch on screaming DD) Well yes she does it’s just very fine because yes she’s a baby but look you can clearly see the bald patch and see how upset she is.
Staff member: Rubbish, she’s yanked out her own hair and now you’re trying it on.
Me: I can take you to the shelf and show you the spilt glue with a load of my daughter’s hair in it.
Staff member: Your daughter shouldn’t have been playing with the glue.
Me: She wasn’t.
Staff member: Well she obviously was. This isn’t our problem.
Then when my still crying DD started rubbing her sore head the staff member pulled her hand away and shouted at her “Don’t touch it you silly girl, you’ll make it worse with glue all over your hands.
Me: She hasn’t got glue on her hands, she hasn’t touched the glue. Please don’t touch or shout at my child, she’s done nothing wrong.
Staff member: You really need to control your child. (To DD) And stop that silly crying!
I pushed staff member’s chair over (she was standing in front of it) and stormed out then wrote a strongly worded letter to the head office when we got home. They replied saying the staff member would be spoken to and we received a £5 voucher and a cheque for £5 for DD to have a haircut (which was pointless as the only way to make her look even would have been to shave her completely Hmm )

They don't let you know they aren't coming, they just don't show up. I rang them and after a lot of hassle got through to someone who could help. They told me they overbook sometimes for efficiency reasons.

Most recently BT too, and had booked services through Sky after moving, BT didn't show to do the install, twice, leaving us without internet for two months. Sky were decent but BT didn't give two shits.

Sunflower20 · 18/11/2019 00:05

Worse than shit - Hermes - just can't get the job done, non existent customer service.
BT - unreasonable and sneaky charges to make sure you get fleeced. Can't leave without paying an extortionate fine, it's like fucking financial blackmail.

Travel taxi taking us to the airport, showed up late, ignored our directions to the motorway (we were living within a mile of a junction) instead preferring to travel 15 miles through the city at rush hour to the next (in the opposite direction). After DP ordered him to take the toll road (to his protestations it wasn't necessary, and us having to foot the toll) we arrived five mins before booking in closed. If we hadn't taken the toll road we'd have missed our holiday. Company response was "you got there, didn't you?".

Vodafone. Will never use them again. I was about 20, saving to go to uni and skint. Had a phone on contract with them (a Samsung) and literally had problem after problem with it within a few months of getting it. It was sent off about 10 times over the course of my contract and was never fixed, made me utterly miserable.
Anyway, get a phone call from the upgrade team one day who tell me that because of all the problems I've had they would like to offer me an early upgrade (should have been able to upgrade 1 month before end, it was 6 months before end) - they were lovely and I confirmed about 5 times that this was to replace the current contract, all good, went ahead and agreed new deal with them.

X amount of days later I go to get money out of bank... nothing there. On investigation, have been billed for new phone twice AND old phone contract. Long story short, lots of back and forth ensued... it took them a month to refund the extra charge for the new phone and they would not accept, despite me crying on the phone to them and trying to explain that there is no scenario in which I'd want, need or could afford two phone contracts, that it was to replace the old contract, there was no documentation to say that etc so I ended up paying two phone contracts for the next 6 months. Needless to say left Vodafone at first opportunity and will never return.

BMW dealer crashed my car while it was being serviced, then didn’t own up until 6pm when I specifically asked them, then resisted bringing my stuff from the boot of car to me, then put me in an uninsured car for the weekend until I realised,
Yes, Maidenhead, you know who you are! Haven’t been near a bmw since. Just crap.

Where to begin.....

Yodel successfully delivered my parcel containing Christmas presents, but couldn't tell me where they had successfully delivered it to, because it wasn't to me. They argued that I had signed for the delivery, but I was able to show time stamped photos of the delivery time and what I was doing at that time. Eventually tracked down the driver who had delivered it to number 9 (I'm at 29) which was the other end of the street! Went to collect it, bloke at number 9 thankfully hands over the parcel, but asks if I've had his iPad delivered as that's also gone missing and the delivery driver told him that I had it!

Eon are the most incompetent bunch of cockwombles ever, accused my elderly parents of changing the electricity meter themselves and presented them with a £4000+ electricity bill for a quarter. That ended up going to the ombudsman to deal with as I was getting nowhere with Eon. Turns out that the engineer forgot to log the job, but Eon were adamant that my parents had changed the meter themselves!

Only last week Very sent me an incorrect item, I rang them up very understanding that mistakes happen, asked for the correct item to be dispatched, to which they wanted me to pay the now higher price and repeat postage for their mistake! Funnily enough I cancelled all of the order and returned everything to them in single packages!

SistersOfPercy · 18/11/2019 09:40

Reminded me of a Currys incident a few years ago. DH was installing a CCTV System and they had an offer on, 20% off CCTV read the sign.

Got to the checkout, full price. Complained and were shown the sign which had tiny tiny writing on the bottom that read 'applies to product code 3664747, 47467, 687959, 4845557'.
I asked him what those products were. He didn't know. I asked then how were we supposed to from that. He didn't know either. Eventually the computer identified half a dozen very obscure CCTV items that they didn't sell in that store and that were probably end lines in the Outer Hebrides.
We left and got it at even less than the 20% at Costco.

BT once managed to cross lines at the exchange with an elderly couple half a mile away. Not helped that they had seemingly gone on holiday for a month. Our phone number was theirs and vice versa and that also meant were were internet less. Tried everything for 3 weeks and BT would not have it that we had this number and it was their mistake. Eventually out of sheer desperation I found the local exchange, went down and collared a passing engineer who promised to have a look.
It was fixed within the hour.

Mintjulia Has reminded me of my 'incident' with my local Mercedes dealership. Oh how could I have forgotten the time I took my car in for a service and they wrote it off. And then they had the bare-faced cheek to try and charge me £2,000 towards a replacement!!

Instagrump · 18/11/2019 11:38

Ah yes! The local independent garage!
I took my car in for a small job that would cost £50 at most. The owner took the car and when I went back the day after he'd not got round to it. Fine. He said he'd call me in a few days as he was swamped. After 2 days DH went round to see and the mechanic said it had been ready since the afternoon before, gave him the keys, took the money and casually said, "Looks like someone's hit it last night, pal. Shame, that. Hmm.. public road and all. It happens" and walked off. DH (being the soft useless sod he is drove away.

Upon inspecting the damage I realised that not only was the paint badly damaged on the bumper and grill, the bumper was wobbly and a headlight was badly scratched and not completely secure. I checked the dash cam as it records all collisions and 100% would have got the vehicle hitting it only to find it disconnected. The mechanic had pulled the plug as soon as he went to work on the car. DH said he always does it cos he doesn't like cameras on him.

DH wouldn't go confront him and paid another garage to weld new brackets onto the bumper. It still looks shit and the bumper isn't 100% fixed to the car but as it's an old car DH refuses to claim on our insurance or confront the garage owner who's already said it's nothing to do with him.
