I cut down by getting in loads of flavoured fizzy water, herbal teas and juice. Stick as much as possible to the low sugar fizzy water and herbal tea, occasional hit of juice. Having nice drinks that aren't alcohol help. I also find drinking lots of water throughout the day helps as I don't get the desperate for any drink feeling. Good luck

I find that if I go through a phase where I think I am drinking too much, I just dont buy any. If I dont have the first, I'm fine; if I have one, it invariably leads to more. So I dont have any in. If I do have a bottle of wine in the house, i dont open it at my preferred time (when i get in from work about 6-7pm) and leave it as late as possible, when i often find i dont fancy a glass then anyway.

Try to eat first; my appetite for a drink disappears when I've eaten.
I have a 'window of opportunity' for a drink and if I miss that (usually after 8.30pm,) I find I don't fancy one.

I actually stopped completely because I couldn't cut down. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be but I read a few books. Alcohol Lied to me and Alcohol Explained.
I was drinking a bottle of wine by myself every night. Cutting down is incredibly hard but some people manage it.
I'm 8 months sober now and I feel absolutely wonderful for it. Do you use Facebook? I'm in a few groups such as The Unexpected joy of being Sober and Club Soda Alcohol Free. They are private groups. In the early days of stopping it was great to have support online.

Jason vale kick the drink easily. Lots of logic there. It made me cut down so much and I find I don't crave it at all now

I'm trying the Drink-Free Days app from the NHS, as well as their Couch to 5K app.

So far, so good. I generally am hopeless on will-power, but I have turned out to be very Stubborn about not letting an App tell me I've missed my targets.
