NIFTY and NT over 6

Hi everyone, my partner recently had a scan and the NT result was 6.1 so we're told that the options we had were a nonevasive or evasive test. We obviously opted for the nonevasive test the NIFTY which we had to pay for.

Anyway, I try to understand the issues with the scan but I am still struggling to come to terms with, what the hospital said, in "a decision has to be made!"

Surely the NT reading cannot be taken as 100% and you should only decide on this?? My partner is 39 and her first child and it hit her very badly.

Any advice?

I’m bumping for you in case anyone has more relevant experience (mine were under the ‘low risk’ 2.5) but personally I’m not certain I’ve ever come across a number so high, I’m sorry. The NT measurement isn’t a 100% indicator but 6.1 really is very high.

If I were in your position, I’d still most likely have a non-invasive test like you’ve opted for, and be having discussions at home about what you’d do in a worst-case scenario. Best of luck all round. Flowers

Well, your partner doesn't have to have any tests at all done, so I wouldn't let her put that pressure on herself at this stage.

Personally, I'd wait for results and then go from there.

Have you been told about the ARC forum? You might get more experienced advice from there.

I think that’s a very high NT and I imagine the hospital are being realistic regarding what it is likely to mean. Usually if the NIPTY comes back as high risk it is accurate but a CVS or amino will be offered for certainty. If it comes back as low risk, then you might want to consider further testing anyway or you might be happy to trust it.
