Alcohol as a substitute for food

I am rather fat and have yet again fallen off the diet wagon.
I never drink alcohol as I think of it as empty calories however...
whilst reaching for a Toffee Crisp this evening my eyes alighted upon vodka, and I've now consumed a rather large and scrummy vodka and orange - and to my surprise haven't touched the Toffee Crisp !
So am thinking - would more more alcohol / less food be a viable diet - is it possible that being a bit sloshed but not so drunk that I'd need munchies actually help weight loss ?
Anyone tried an alcohol diet ?

I don’t know but I know a lot of thin women who drink a lot and barely eat

I wish I was like that but I had three drinks on Friday night and woke up with a headache that lasted till 4pm.

Fantastic idea. They say tans are slimming too so when you turn a bit yellow cos you've fucked up your liver it'll probably take a few pounds off you too 👍

When you drink alcohol, your body metabolises it before other nutrients to use it as fuel.

This can slow down fat burning and cause extra carbs, protein and fat in your diet to be stored as fat tissue, resulting in excess body fat.

Hello,

Alcohol consumption is not really ideal to help with weight loss. People often call it 'empty calories' because alcohol doesn't provide any nutrients. Orange juice will but the spirit itself will not.
Alcohol still has 7calories per 1g and still counts into your daily intake I'm afraid.

What sort of methods have you tried in order to lose weight?

The most important thing is to work out what is your current intake of calories and how that intake could be adjusted in order for weight loss to occur.

One of the best things you try to implement into your current diet is to make sure that our protein and fiber (lots of green veg) intake are high. That will make you feel full and not hungry and will also reduce cravings. Have you tried that? :-)

You can still enjoy a drink while dieting but you just need to be more aware of its calorie content.
a small glass of prosecco has about 100kclas while vodka and orange juice can have up to 300kcals - depending on the size of your drink.
Alcohol consumption will only cause fat gain and slow down your progress if you total food intake (inc alcohol) will be a lot higher than energy expenditure :-)

I hope I somehow answered your question.

Kind Regards

Ah, the Patsy Stone diet. Plenty of Bolly, no food.

It's probably not a great idea in the long term. Maybe the 5:2?
