If you drink lots of water...

Does your body adapt to not needing the toilet all the time?

I know I need to drink more. That is a simple fact. But being pregnant at the moment, my bladder is not to full capacity. I also have an hours driving commute each way and as a teacher, I am limited as to when I can go to the toilet.

The result is that I find myself not drinking as much water as I don't want to be bursting. I do try to make up for it in the evenings and deal with the night wakings, but I know that sipping throughout the day is the most beneficial way. Assure me that my body will adjust?!

If you're sipping at the rate you're losing water, it won't end up in your bladder...

Ha! If only that were true. Instead, your kidneys and other bits need a constant flow of water to stay healthy, meaning it'll always fill your bladder - if it doesn't you're not drinking enough. Sigh.

You're going to have to tough it out during the pregnancy - adapt and survive, time your intake so you don't piss yourself on the commute when the little darling kicks you right in the bladder.

Afterwards when there's less fighting for space you will find your bladder enlarges to accomodate a bit more - keep up your pelvic floor exercises though and good luck with the birth.

Drink the water about 2 hrs before your commute, not immediately before it, or just take occasionally sip.
Go to the loo when you can, even if you're not sure you need to.

I drink a lot of fluids & I wee a lot.
I wouldn't try this change when you're pg.

After baby is born you'll feel like a horse you'll be able to wait so long before you have to go, then wee so much at once.

You could drink during your commute so by the time you need the loo, you’ll be at work.

I’d also speak to your line manager. I think it’s expected of pregnant women to need to spend a penny often so they should accommodate that.
