12A - can I take a younger child?

I've no idea about cinema ratings these days!

Am I allowed to take a 7 yr old into a 12A?

It's a filmed version of a west end show she's saw twice at the theatre so I know it's perfectly suitable for her, just need to know if I'm actually allowed to or if we would be turned away from the cinema. (The show is 42nd street if you're curious!)

The 12A rating is only used for films shown in cinemas. Films rated 12A are suitable for children aged 12 and over. However, people younger than 12 may see a 12A so long as they are accompanied by an adult. In such circumstances, responsibility for allowing a child under 12 to view lies with the accompanying adult.

Yes as long as you are an adult, but it's up to you to ensure they can cope with what they are seeing.
