Best way to buy an iPad mini?

Decided to venture into tablet ownership for the first time but it’s baffling the amount of versions and prices out there

I know I don’t want a big iPad and I want apple as used to their phones so decided on a mini.
I don’t mind refurbished but there are now 5 models in the back catalogue and no idea what I should be buying for basic usage.

Can anyone help?

I would have a look at cex. Their refurbished stuff comes with a year's guarantee.

Refurbs from Apple are as-new. They're almost entirely "I didn't like this product and I'm returning it" items, over 90%. Others are display units, a very few are warranty replacement units after being fixed. Anything needed to bring them back to new condition is done, and they're fully re-tested and fully warrantied exactly as a brand new item.

I prefer them over brand-new-in-box as they've been QA'd twice, they're obviously cheaper, and sometimes you get higher spec than is advertised. I've had two MacBook Pros that came with more RAM or more SSD than specced, and a Mini with double the RAM too - all back when RAM and SSD was ruinously expensive.

I've bought lots of apple refurbs without any problems too.
I'm looking for an iPad for DH at the mo so helpful thread. What's the latest non-mini version ?

SpoonBlender · 13/11/2019 13:48

@GrimDamnFanjo Latest is just called iPad, it's the (starts at) £349 one.
www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-ipad/ipad-10-2 - it's a very fine piece of kit, much much better value than the Pro.

@SpoonBlender thanks! I've been struggling to make sense of it all!
