If you work from home regularly...

(Sorry, have NCd for this, as I know some of my colleagues are MNs.)

Could I ask whether your employer did anything to check health and safety - did they come to your house and check that your work space was safe, or did they rely on you confirming that it was?

Did they give you a chair that moved up and down etc, or any of the sort of equipment that you'd get at your normal desk if you were still in the office, or did they let you sort yourself out?

The HSE is about as clear as mud as to what my employer has to do and what would be a nice thing for them to do, and I'm not sure what's normal or reasonable. The HSE is even talking about some employees providing fire extinguishers etc - I just can't see my boss going for this at all. Could I possibly check what's normal in practice? I don't want to ask for more than is standard practice and come across as unreasonable.

Thanks very much in advance.

Nothing

I’m apparently supposed to have a lockable cupboard to put my work laptop in every night. I don’t have one and no ones ever asked if I have. I also had to just do an online assessment thing. I provided my own desk and chair. More comfortable than the crappy work ones we have in the office anyway.

Nope!

Nope. Not a sausage, but we're a limited company in our own right so not one of their employees. When we've had people work from home, we've had them complete a H&S checklist and provided desks and chairs where necessary.

Any employer wanting to nose about my home would get short shrift from me and others in the house!

We were given a best practice guide and then a questionnaire to complete that asks us all about our work environment, to ascertain if any adjustments should be made to the chair, posture, keyboard position etc.

This means that my home office is a shining example of a safe and healthy working environment....

....unlike my sofa, where I do 99% of my work from, propped up against the arm, surrounded by cushions, my feet up in a 'chaise longue' position with my laptop and mobile in front of me.

I'm comfy, happy, very productive, and so far nothing hurts or has fallen off after several years. Although the arm of the sofa has definitely worn.

My office contains the ironing board and printer.

Nope absolutely nothing

I had to fill in my own dse assessement, however my employer will buy any equipment needed, such as docking stations, desks, chairs etc
