AI holidays - what are your pet hates?

Posting this for fun really, on an AI holiday and there's young gobshite guy by the pool who's basically on a monologue to some fellow guests about how much money he's got in a stealth boast kind of way. Here are some excerpts from his monologue: 'Golf club....£3600 a year....Sandy Lane....Tesla... Skiing in Aspen...' he hasn't bloody paused for breath in the last 30 minutes!

Here are my other holiday pet hates:

People playing their own shit music on the beach through shitty speakers

Buffet ditherers

People being rude to the staff

People who think they own a certain spot of the beach

Yes definitely to people playing their music too loudly on crappy speakers.

Towels on sunloungers all day but only used for 20 mins.

Big lilos in a small busy pool.

People with young children leaving a real mess at the table/on the floor when they leave. I assume that they don’t do that at home.

People who pile their plates with food and then leave half - such a waste

Those rude to staff

...can you tell I’ve been a waitress before 😂

Buffet ditherers

Which is just about the worst aspects of AI on cruise ships. When you've arrived in port, literally everyone, a couple of thousand people, all hit the breakfast buffet at the same time so they can be fed & watered and ready to leave on the shore excursions by around 9am. That would be bad enough if everyone actually gone on with it, but so many just faff around trying to decide between a white or brown bread roll, or between corn flakes or weetabix, all the while the queue behind them just continues to grow. Then there's the hell of them deciding whether to use an English Breakfast teabag or an Earl Grey teabag. Just get on with it for Christ's sake! Feel free to dither when you're at sea and you have five hours to spend dithering over breakfast, not when everyone has to be up and off by 9am!

@Youreterriblemuriel99 my daughter waitresses part time so I'm totally with you there!

Just thought of another. People who are hammered by lunchtime. Learn some self control!

Buffet restaurant in general. I love sitting down and being served and we all sit at the same table all the time.

I hate the going for the food, coming back, can’t for the others as it gets cold, going again, missing the others again etc.

We wer lucky in half term, we paid for AI but were out a lot for lunch and there were enough other restaurants in the resort to choose from at dinner time, we only had two buffet dinner and two lunches in a week.

Only basic drinks included and less than stellar quality.

Dowser · 06/11/2019 19:49

For me it’s the poor quality food...but I’ve only done one AI in a three star hotel so maybe that’s not typical I don’t know.

HairyFloppins · 06/11/2019 19:52

The toaster machine at breakfast.

Towels on sunbeds.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 06/11/2019 20:15

All of it 😕 I've done 4 AI's and they aren't my cup of tea.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 06/11/2019 20:43

Overcrowded and noisy buffet breakfast , people getting up at dawn to reserve sun beds , animation team badgering you to take part in activities, loud music around the pool area , restrictions on access to the a la carte options.

I've done two AI holidays. The first one wasn't great so we thought maybe we needed to spend more to go somewhere a bit more exclusive. The next one was so much more expensive and yet we had all the same issues.

Sticking to self catering villas and apartments from now on.

Roselilly36 · 06/11/2019 20:46

Buffets, when I am on holiday I want to choose from a menu and have the food brought to the table. AI we have tried it, but it just doesn’t suit my family.

Dislocatedeyeballs · 06/11/2019 20:51

People everywhere shitty cheap fakery over sweet disgusting drinks served in plastic cups. Shit repetitive entertainment although they're not all like that but why pay a fortune to get quality all inclusive when you can spend it on eating out locally anyway

TreacherousPissFlap · 07/11/2019 08:02

I'm going on my first ever AI next year. I'm already dubious (though the company has a good reputation) so this was not the thread I really needed Grin

Trooperslaneagain · 07/11/2019 08:14

The overweight kids (I'm not the fat pole, but they are) with a dinner plate piled high with a shit tonne of food and doughnuts adorning the top.

They have their grubby hands in everything. Boke.

The same food every night. Booooooring. I think it's only good value if you're on a strict budget and don't care about variety. Don't get me started on the "animation"

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 07/11/2019 08:20

Other people. It would be so much more pleasant without all the other guests but still having the drinks on tap, nice location, activities for the kids etc. With a personal chef.
Alas I'm not a millionaire.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 07/11/2019 10:16

@TreacherousPissFlap it really does depend on where you go, I have been to some fab all inclusives. We're currently in Barbados where it's very expensive to eat out so it makes sense to go AI.

The hotel is fabulous, as is the food, it's just the other guests that piss me off sometimes!!

dreamingofsunandsurf · 07/11/2019 10:20

I've only done one and it was a budget holiday.
Wrist bands and people who sit at the swim up bar for hours drinking pints and never get out for the loo.

PollyShelby · 07/11/2019 10:26

You need adults only genuine 5* with unlimited a la cartes and no animation team. Pre reserved sun beds with room number on and premium alcohol.

Rare to find but heaven when you do.
