I have been working part time since having kids but having been made redundant recently I’ve got an interview for a good job which, if I get it, means we’ll both be working full time from January and I’m a bit daunted at the prospect!

If you both work full time- how do you keep on top of the rest of family life? All hacks gratefully received. Kids are 9 and 13 if that makes any difference.

Share the mental load as well as the chores...

If it ain't in the wash basket it doesn't get washed, DC sort out clean wash and put theirs away. Don't iron.

Meal plan and shop on line.

Both partners do a fair share of physical and mental work.

I would use some time over the next six weeks to fill your freezer with curries and casseroles etc.

Declutter as much as possible as that makes life simpler. I think that is key.

Make lists of chores.
Monday Hoover
Tuesday clean bathrooms
Etc.
Allocate chores to people
Include the mental load stuff like meal planning
I've seen on here advice to run the dishwasher every night even if it's not full. So it's always clean in the morning. Assign someone to unload it in the morning.
If a job isn't done don't you do it because it's quicker/easier for you to do it

Make sure partner has all relevant phone numbers and is in whatsapp groups where they exist for babysitters, other kids' parents, after school activities etc Then divide up chores. Otherwise you will be the one forever sorting out lifts, childcare etc.

These are all brilliant, thank you!
Yes, maybe these next few weeks are a good opportunity to get organised/streamlined.

If possible get a cleaner, outsource ironing and a gardener. My gardener only mows the front and back lawns, a job that would take me or DH a while.
Food shop done online.
All school/club /DC social admin done as soon as it comes in.
Buy absolutely everything on amazon.
Ruthless with clutter, everywhere looks neater if there's less 'stuff'.
Food shopping online.
