Would anyone working in a school answer these questions for me?

I've applied for a really nice role. It also has the added benefit of being term time only (excerpt for the 10 training days), so I wondered...

How does pay work? Is it split equally across each month? I know I won't be entitled to any holidays of my own choosing since I get most of the school holidays.

With childcare, can I pay a childminder/Nursery to just have my son during term time and not outside of it? Or would I have to pay as normal and just not send him if I'm off of work due to school holidays?

Thanks all for the answers Thanks

A lot will depend on the wording of the contract and what the role is.

Some jobs advertise the actual pay, others advertise the year round, full time equivalent salary and then it gets pro-rata-ed down to term time only and down to X hours a week.

Your pay will be paid in 12 equal installments so you'll get a pay check in August.

In terms of childcare it will depend if you have a provider who does term time arrangements, or reduced retainer fees or wants year round paying.

Hi, I work in a school, my pay is split across the year, it will be pro-ratered, so if for instance it says you'll earn £17000, you won't, you'll earn that minus all of the school holidays. I take home roughly £8000. You can have a discretionary off day off, usually unpaid, with Head's permission.

As for childcare, mine is a term time only contract, dates are arranged in advance of when hols are.
