Homemade advent calendar- what's in yours?

Made dds an advent calendar each last year, put in things I knew they'd love and they went down an absolute treat. Was great fun to make and definately doing similar this year. I was thinking of making up a christmas puzzle (we love puzzles- mainly wasjig, usually have one on the go a few times a year) and then splitting it into 24 little sets so they can do a bit each day. Does that sound rubbish?? What is everyone else putting in theirs this year??

That sounds brilliant!

Ours will have a bible verse in (not everyone’s cup of tea, obviously Grin) and a Christmassy activity for the day, but I’m not sure beyond that.

I might copy your puzzle idea when my DD’s older though, it’s inspired!

Aww thank you. I was doubting myself for a bit! Bible verse sounds lovely too.

Some kind of gymkhana/treasure hunt around the house?
How many FC can you count?
How tall is the tree?
Draw a picture (if FC, JC, snowman whatever) on a satsuma
What's the total off all the days before 25th? (is 1+2+3+4+5....+24=..)
Make a reminder out of your Legos
Draw around your hand to make a turkey.
Put a letter in every stocking, on 24th they rearrange all the letters to make a Christmas word/phrase.
Put a Christmas joke in each stocking.

Mine's mostly just full of chocolate Grin they are 25 stockings and each has space enough for two twixes, although I mix up Lindt bonbons with other things.

Love the xmas puzzle idea!

Mine has tea in it :D My sister travels a lot for work over the world and makes me a tea advent calendar of a teabag from 24 different countries. It's amazing and I love it!

I made my kids pakkekalendar because we're in Norway :) They're only little so they get things like novelty erasers, fun pens, sweets, and the occasional pair of woollen socks (because it be cold).

Oh tea sounds lovely. Was thinking possible coffee for dh. Think I might add a joke, fact or little quiz question in for dds for added fun!!

I quite fancied doing myself a sock advent calendar and getting a new pair of socks everyday!

I make an online calendar using Turchen. It sends GIFs, pictures or yt videos every day to people. I make a countdown calender to send to DH on holiday countdown. Grin

Alice that sounds like fun Smile

ZippyLongstocking · 06/11/2019 14:08

I am so a Lego one mixed with chocolate. I have Christmas themed mini figures so will use them and then on other days just a chocolate. Was thinking of a piece of Lego each day to build something but don't think he has the patience for that yet.

For the past two years, DS was obsessed with Pokemon, so I bought sets of these to put in a felt calendar. He wants a chocolate one this year though.

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 07/11/2019 09:11

They sound lovely. Dsis did Pokemon figures for ds one year and they went down well

My friend runs a wax melt business and at Christmas she does Christmas scent wax melt samplers so I get a different Christmassy scent every day,

We have a nativity jigsaw in ours. 48 pieces, 2 each day. The baby Jesus goes in on 24th.
It's been like this for the last 23 years, they took turns initially, now I do most of the jigsaw myself. Grin

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 07/11/2019 21:03

That sounds lovely! 24 pieces sounds a little more manageable than 1000! Mine arrived today, it's a second hand one from eBay and is in terrible condition- broken pieces and smells all fusty!! I'm gutted was going to start building it up tonight so I can split it into 24 little sets but I'm going to have to return it and find another one!

That's a shame. Good luck with your search.

Ours was a children's one from the ELC.
Actually I don't even know if the ELC still exists

CatShapedCushion · 07/11/2019 22:08

We're no sugar so cut up different Musashi protein bars-foil wrap the chunks&put in the little material pouchs..works for us😁..love the jigsaw idea💗

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 13/11/2019 13:32
