School trousers?

DS 5 goes through the knees in school trousers like its going out of fashion. Two pairs bought at the beginning of the school year are already worn out.

Any recommendations for the most resistant brand? M&S don’t last, Sainsbury’s seem a bit better - v interested in any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Can you bondaweb a patch to the inside on the knees to give extra strength

Bloomburger · 05/11/2019 07:36

I gave up. Shorts and long socks and lots of plasters.

When my son was in primary, I always bought school trousers from Asda and found them really hardwearing. He'd always grow out of them before they wore out. I haven't bought them for a few years though as I he wanted a different fit when he started secondary, so I'm not sure if the quality has changed. I buy them from Next now and find them good but he's probably not crawling round on the floor whilst at school as hes in year 11, at least I hope he's not. Hmm. I found M&S school trousers to be awful, the knees wore out and the seams came apart within weeks which I was really surprised at.

Shoes were always our problem, I remember in reception buying my son his 3rd pair of shoes at Xmas. 😩

I've always found M&S trousers shocking! I know only buy Asda

Tesco trousers have worked well for us so far. They have reinforced knees.

Next.

Tesco and Morrisons have been fine for us

CruCru · 05/11/2019 08:44

John Lewis seem fairly strong. But not as good as shorts.

GrotbagsBetterLookingSister · 05/11/2019 09:10

Asda and Tesco have been better for ds than any expensive pairs. Also, when they do go at the knees I just unpick a pocket and sew that over the top of the hole with some webbing stuff underneath. They're only school trousers so they don't have to be perfect.

Thanks everyone - honestly I think shorts are probably the best option! Until spring rolls around though I will try Asda and Tesco and see how they go

Despite my DMs best efforts I am no good with any form of sewing / needle or even stick on webbing stuff!!

Next have been fine for my two. However they did cling to the shorts from about March to November in primary. DS2 was most miffed to realise that no one wears shorts in high school.

I get a lot of from charity shops now, they’re usually in good nick as kids grow so quickly. Not that they last longer but it’s less irksome when they’ve cost a quid 😃
